Brooke, I loved this! I was following Michael's contest, and this certainly is one of the top entries! I am sure this would make Sawyer smile.
Daisies too have sprung right up,
and a glowing buttercup --
wizards must have turned those worms
straight to gold where they once squirmed.
Grandpa says they grew from seeds,
and the gold is really weeds.
Grandma says he's just too old --
she thinks wizards made the gold.
How very entertaining, you pick things that kids like and words that guarantee to make them smile.
Good luck in the contest!

Sweet and endearing and certainly told from a child's POV and as an adult, listening, I would believe it all true as well. As usual, thank-you for the smile : ) Loren

This is truly a delightful children's poem. It's fun and interesting and the counting parts really fit well with the story and are educational. And - I love the word 'plop' A great use of Onomatopoeia to express the sound of rain. It's cute too, that Grandpa the grump doesn't seem to know anything - but Grandma - knows about everything that's magic.
This one will be tough to beat.
Rose.

Beautiful writing. You really have the knack for expressing mundane things in magical words. This is perfect for a child's mind to understand and enjoy.

Kids love worms and wiggling things. A counting poem, from one all the way to "hundreds, thousands, millions, more," Fun stuff. Good luck in the contest, Brooke!

Great children's poem, Brooke. It will surely make them smile. It did me! Loved the rhythm from the aabb rhyme scheme and the alliteration from loops pounding and plops aplenty. Great imagery from the wriggling squiggly worms popping up from the ground. 8-)

I loved the art work very much for these words written.
Children have lots of fun with the weather
rain is falling and worms pop out of the ground
magic wizards worked hard and daises even were there.
