Well, your rhyme scheme is always intact.
Your poetic alliteration was quite fine.
And children are always happy around you.
And I envy you, for all of the fun your having.
Keep writing.

Well, Brooke, I happened to like the picture you've chosen for this one. I felt it fit and complimented the style of your poem perfectly.

As for the poem itself, it was a wonderfully metered and rhymed piece of work. Fun and free-spirited, perfectly suited for children, about children, and the magic they so often see in places we adults simply overlook sometimes. Except for grandma, of course. She's obviously still young at heart and could see the magic too!

Great work, and I'll just bet you've got the winner here.:)

Hi. well...I like the counting, it helps the learning and kids can always remember a poem better for it.
It sort of reminds me of Suess, my fav as a kid, well I still read them...
I like the I can jump puddles joy in this.

Hi Brooke, this poem is absolutely superb, a faultless piece of beautiful poetry that flows as smooth as the rain you describe, great rhyming and meter, fantastic rhythm, a lesson in writing great poetry.

rain drops falling plop, plop, worms wiggling and squiggling, puddles galore for floating paper boats-This is enough to make every child smile.then scene after rains is still better, all those brilliant golden yellow flowers. grandfather is down to earth while grandmother still retains her romantic mind. All the best for the contest, Brooke.

Seasonal changes are all around us now. Rain is not something I worry too much over (I grew up in Seattle after all). Thanks for yet another wonderful nature poem, I always look forward to them.

I love all the children's poems that you've written with counting Brooke. They are all so much fun to read and follow. Too bad Sawyer has no rain puddles to jump in. I'm sure he'd love them. I like the creations of the wizards. Really, a great story.
Smiles,
Karyn : )

You are the only person I know who writes of worms and bug.
We too, have drought condition, which is why I took out my lawn last year. We do live in a desert which extends from
the San San Bernadino mountais to the waves off the Pacific.
Gravel doesn't need water. In the next several years I hope
yo be able to replace the gravel with sandstone.

Brooke;
What a you will children's piece of poetry that was so enjoyable to read and one that could be read easily and most considerably for a child.
Your tempo and meter was done in a very rhythmic motion and flowed smoothly throughout your writing. The writing on the other hand how to do rhythmic flow as it was neither force nor labored and consequently worked well and conscientiously with each line. Consider remaking each rhyming word fit the line perfectly.
I just love the content and especially the concept of this writing. We are simplistically made it so easy for a child to enjoy and most likely some of them to read.
Thank you for sharing and posting this for everyone to read Brooke and may the starshine always lead and point the way through the darkest of your nights.
