An excellent story poem. You create realistic characters with believable emotions--the caring old coot, and the faithful and worried young woman. Excellent description of their interaction. Love bites for both of them. Good luck in the contest.

This is a beautifully written poem about the loneliness sustained by those left behind in the horrors of war, theyoung girl alone in the cafe was a great setting, your poem flows along smoothly with good description and imagery, I wish you luck my friend.

A bit-of-a-surprise ending that and a good one to boot. We leave her problem unresolved and hone in on your old one.
Reminds me of an old country western song titled "War is hell o the home front." google it and get a laugh.

Hopper has inspired me in the past to write prose, but not poetry up until now. I truly appreciate your kind comments and best wishes.
