I got a birthday card saying I should go to the clinic and get tested for STD, that's about the worst I can say.
A letter such as this must be crushing for a soldier to get, especially while on active dutyThanks for an interesting write--Ted

Beautifully written piece with the feeling strongly expressed. One could easily visualize the scenes describe and perhaps catch the hints of negativity...snoring, you got drunk,...

Very strong ending, that makes you wonder...

Nicely done.

I love the imagination of this piece of writing. We have all heard about "Dear John" letters, but this piece takes us a step further, to imagining the soldier's response. I love the language of how he describes their life together. Beautifully worded. If there is anything I would change, it might be working a bit on the wording at the end, but overall, it is a very strong piece.

What a beautiful piece of Prose poetry. I wonder how many women think about the pain they cause when they choose this way to tell their husbands that the marriage is over. Your story flows smoothly from line to line, and proper grammar makes the message you are trying to relay come alive in the reader's mind.

This letter might have been the difference between life and death for this soldier. Losing hope, causes living heroes to make mistakes that mean death for them. Good luck.

This is so emotive and a beautiful piece of craftsmanship in a poem. The angst, the sorrow, the lost love in this situation is very well written and explained in poetic form. Deserving of all the plaudits and prizes!

What a sad story, I often feel anger towards women who send dear John letters to men in war Zones. But then again, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for such a letter sent to my dad, by my mom's next door neighbor. Who promptly felt bad about what she had done and convinced my mom to start writing him. Their story had a happy ending but I know that wasn't the case for many of the men left abandon on the battle Zones.

This is so sad. It shows the depth of his love and how sometimes absence doesn't make the heart grow fonder. This might make her feel guilty but I don't think that was the odject. I like the metaphorical death that might lead to a physical death in the end.

You write like you know how it feels.

Perfect picture.

Keep writing

The 180 degree most loves travel these days, but the heartbreak of the ones who travel while the other is away are the most sad. I think you captured this heartbreak as the soldier delivers his counter punch, but it will never deliver the power he would like it to, because it's meant for a heartless woman who has only herself on her mind. Very good.

A soldiers life is indeed very difficult. And you have penned down a good narrative/poem about a soldier who had to live without his partners letters for a while. Enjoyed reading it.

Wonderful piece! Love the choice of words, and the deep and strong message. This says it all. I think the format is interesting too and even leaves an impression of longevity, as does a life-time...
Great poem!
