A lovely tale in a poem with a peaceful and calming message in the last lines:

"Not all's a war to lose or win.
A breeze swept through and brushed my skin."

A great message, natural imagery and flowing rhymes too! Well done and best wishes, Brooke. Pete :)

Brooke, if only we could all be more like the mighty oak and stand firm. The breeze was just passing through, like people do. Although the leaves were in dance, the oak would have no part, for the breeze lacked power, so just moved on, again, as people do. I really like this poetry form, and you write it so beautifully. . .Sharon

Another beautiful poem to read out loud. The breeze seemed gentle under the protection of the mighty oak. Thank you for posting.

I love the imagery and the message. it made me think of people. People come and go in our lives. Some just pass by briefly like the wind passing across your skin. there is no connection or injury, you just touch lightly and move on. We are not meant to have deep connections with all people who pass us during this life walk. I relate to "not all's a war to lose or win."

Been (pronounced bin?) rhyming with skin - yes? Interesting philosophy from you. The four winds have bin' so many places and will never tell you where - we just accept the hot wind from the desert and in the Bible...the Lord sent the south wind to cool the land. If winds could speak - so many tales could be told. Well done mum.

The wind, mysterious, untameable, unpredictable, the great metaphor that serves poets, writers and weather people the best, it brings, dust, rain, snow and sleet, destruction, and beauty! Great descriptive poem, well penned, beautifully presented! Nice even metered poem in aabb rhyming, well done, blessings, Roy.

A good philosophical poem that is so real and true about life. The wind of life blows and cause harm to many, but undeterred some remained without any effect. A well done quatrin done with deep thoughts. Well done.

A very beautiful and powerful statement. Some events in our live barely touch or affect us, while others have the capacity to knock us to our knees. A minor setback need not cause us to consider suicide, while the loss of a dear loved one may cause us such despair that we may never recover. You are such a source of profound wisdom, I am again awed.

Sounds refreshing. Our month of March normally gives this feeling when sitting out beneath the oaks. Soon we will see the change of colors here in our mountains. Well done Brooke.

Beautiful Quatern. Lovely images.
Repeating lines well placed and rhymed for smooth
flow.
Good use of alliteration and assonance and
personification of nature.
A beautiful poem and presentation. Nancy
