Dean;
I really enjoyed reading this particular acrostic 5/7/5 syllabic format very much. You are very clever and witty in writing such a well composed piece of poetry.
I like how you formulated the words into very expressive and descriptive lines that make the reader feel and experience the loss of a well loved and cherished pet.
A very well-written tearjerker my friend would you have grasped the reader by his emotions and taken them literally down into an abyss of sadness. But it's a good sadness.
Thank you for sharing them posting this Dean and may the starshine always help you lead your way to the darkest of times.
Alex

Thanks, Alex, and I truly appreciate your heartfelt words, especially knowing you have a dog in this fight as well, my friend (no pun at all intended.). As a matter of fact, I just reviewed it, and I felt it was very good!

Best of luck to both of us then, what do you say?:)

All is fine Dean and no harm intended. I found your writing to be quite interesting and will end very witty. And you are so sincerely welcome my dear friend.

PS: Have a really great weekend

Great writing prompt and you totally took the helm. My vote for sure. My husband and I are still in mourning over our baby Wolfie, a german shepherd after thirteen years of faithful devotion. He was truly our love, and our purpose to walk twice a day. You hit the target with this one. Smiles to you and your family. Robin :)

Thanks so much, Robin, and I'm so sorry for your loss. When we lose a pet, a faithful and long-time companion, it is just like losing a member of the family. For in essence, that is precisely what it is.

Thanks so much again for the exceptional rating, and your touching review.:)

Love the concept dog/god. There's nothing to change here. It's a good 5/7/5. I don't know what the contest means a '575 with a twist', I just know I like what you've done.

Thanks so much, Norma, and it was stated in the rules that it had to be an acrostic, as well as a 5/7/5 simultaneously. Far more difficult for me than I first imagined it would be! You know me and my lengthy poems, LOL...

Still, I thank your for your kind and thoughtful review, my friend.:)

Hi Dean Kuch,

I think God created dogs to teach us the meaning of love and devotion, unearned and freely given. My two Shelties teach me that each day.

Thanks, Patrick, and I honestly believe you are right. I own three small breed dogs; two miniature dachshunds and a Chihuahua who is nine years old. Their unconditional love and patience with me truly amazes me at times, as does God's.:)

Hah, I never thought of it that way, kiwijenny. Brings to mind giant idols made of gold, featuring Chihuahua and heads of Great Danes. Oh, wait...the Egyptians already did that, centuries ago! (LOL)

Thanks so much for the great review!:)

I'm confident you adhered to the rules...I have not idea - but, I really liked your 5-7-5 - God's reflective grace - a visual and very soft comment about our pets. Good Luck...AT=/

Ha ha, I just looked at it, Jean, and left a comment of my own. I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would warm LM to be very careful of what I teach them. Hee-hee...

    True, 'dat!:)

Hi Dean:)
This is a highly creative poem the use of the word dog as the base word for an acrostic poem and the twist from dog to God while maintaining the description of one of mankind's favorite pets. This is an amazing accomplishment with only seventeen syllables to work with. This looks like a winner to me and would receive six stars, if I had any left. Good luck!

Indeed. The first word that comes to my mind is loyal. Dogs are the most amazing creatures when treated correctly.

I once wrote a story 'Sweet Girl' as a tribute to my dog that passed away. I still read it sometimes because it reminds me of her mannerisms.

Good poem. Great last line with true meaning.

Thank you very much, Dan. I think when we lose a beloved pet, as you did with your "Sweet Girl", I feel it is just like losing a member of our family. They are such loyal friends, and love us unconditionally, much as God does.

Thanks for the great review, my friend!:)

Hi. I love dogs...I think this is a super poem for this contest..go get 'em.

I have a poem I have never posted..(I think it would get nailed here).the first line is...
dog is god spelt backwards
either way around it is a gift...

anyway I like your poem, especially the last line.

Thanks a bundle, padu, and yes, we have three. One nine-year-old Chihuahua named Gidget (she's my baby!), and two miniature Dachshunds. Gidget won't allow me out of her sight for ten seconds. If I die before she does, which is very possible, that dog will sit on my grave and whine, I have no doubt!
