Very nice and heartfelt poem. You followed the acrostic style perfectly. The subject matter was great! As an owner of many dogs (4), your poem touched me in that it describes them to a tee!

Thanks, faragon, I appreciate that! I own three small breed dogs myself; 2 miniature Dachshunds, and my 9 year old Chihuahua, Gidget. That dog is my baby, and we go everywhere together. So, it was a pretty easy topic for me to write about, but getting the format right was a bit harder than I thought it would be.

I am truly glad that you're happy with the way it turned out. Thanks for the very thoughtful review, my friend.:)

Wonderfully written acrostic mixed with a haiku poem. Dogs sure are wonderful and loyal pets. Best of luck in the contest.

This is great - dog is certainly one of God's most loving creatures, and truly man's best friend - a clever little poem, this acrostic 5-7-5! Good luck in the contest.

Thanks, TJ, and I'll be getting around to reviewing your new spin-off of Dead Winter sometime this evening. I've been so busy working with a prospective publisher for my book, I fear my reviewing has fallen off dramatically. But, we don't forget our friends, and I haven't forgotten you.

Thanks again for your thoughtful comments and review.:)

Cool! Which book? I hope you get it and put in a good word for me. :)
reply by the author on 22-Aug-2014
It's called Screams from a Darkened Room, and is a collection of horror stories and dark poetry. I have to get a typed manuscript ready, all in Times New Roman, 12 point font, of all 32 stories and poems combined, edited and error free, and it must received no later than September 29th. Well, I am a notoriously slow typist, so there is that, LOL.

That being the case, my reviews have fallen off dramatically, and I hate that part of it. I still manage to write here, but little else. I have 449 reviews still to answer, and like you, I hate to cut & paste. I have a lot of work ahead of me, so wish me luck! And I will definitely put in a good word for you if things go like I plan. You can count on it!:)

Thanks very much, GW, but many said the same thing about the marine mammal haiku yesterday. I never count anyone out until that proverbial fat lady sings, and she ain't singin' just yet, LOL.

I deeply appreciate your thoughtful comments and review, my friend.

Dean, they asked for a twist, and you sure gave them one. So very clever! I love this, especially your description of Dog/God. Great wording, and I predict a win, lol. I wish you the best of luck. . .Sharon

Thanks, Sharon, I really appreciate the thought, my friend. I'm very glad you liked the poem. I know it is a bit out of character for me, but I truly do have a strong faith in God. My pastor gives me that sideways grin every Sunday when I go to church. His Facebook is set up to receive all of my posts here. Scary thought, don't you think, LOL?

Hey friend, I know your heart and what you write doesn't count for me. I love the unique and definitely thrillers. I don't believe that God cares what we write, He only cares about our hearts. Lol, I think it's great that your pastor understands you very well, and I believe we do here also. So I say, write what pleases you, and forget about what others think! Dean, writing should be about everything, and I do that, write about anything and everything, and God understands!...Love, Sharon

Your poem is in excellent 5/7/5 syllable count and is also a solid acrostic for Dog
I like the positive, appreciative, spiritual tone in this tribute to people's beloved dogs, valued members of the family to many
I like the alliterative pairing of pet/patient and God's grace

Thank you, Brooke, and it was far more of a challenge than I thought it would be. Of course, given your propensity for poetic prowess, I've no doubt you would have breezed right through this, LOL.

Thanks for the thoughtful comments ans wonderful review, my friend.:)
