This is a very clever acrostic 5-7-5. Quite hard to work out for this challenge I would think. A great description of man's best friend so not surprised to see the winners ribbon. Well done Dean.

Been out for some time... I've missed this wonderful 5-7-5 acrostic... Which appropriately described man's best friend. Congratulations, dear! You deserved it! God bless... c", Mae

This was very nicely done acrostic 5,7,5 (DOG). I especially liked the last verse God's reflective grace. Thought provoking. A well deserved win. Congrats!

A great poem that captures the innocence and deep beauty that animals have but that humans sometimes lack. A well deserved win. Well done, Dean

An excellent 5-7-5, Dean! Well thought out and laid out for us to ponder. Meaning and double meaning in so few words - very impressive, Pete :)

Congrats on your win of this one, Dean. A great little 5/7/5. Dogs are always sure to warm the heart - especially when we are reminded of their connection to God - So close to being a Palindrome - but not quite.
They are indeed part of God's reflective grace.
Rose.

Some people think God is a pet. Some think man is a pet of the Gods usually gone wrong not heeding their counsel. I have ofter wondered about the reverse spelling. You explain your thinking about it in fine 5-7-5 verse. Our Golden Retriever is a spirit much loved for her counsel, mainly to look into her deep brown eyes and forget our troubles.

As my three dogs often allow me to do, Alan. Forget my troubles, if only for a while. It is their loyalty, trust and faith in man that I find truly astounding. We certainly don't deserve it.

Thanks you for your assessment, my friend. Much obliged.

Don't know who's pet you're referring to. Mine is a complete nutbag, but she tries. Nice poem. I don't quite understand the acrostic stuff. I see that you had the scroll down name of dog and then God as the last name to keep them together. Is that all there is to the structure? Well, besides the 5-7-5.

Yep, an acrostic contains the name of the poem, spelled downwards, and the 5/7/5 had to reflect something pertaining to the title. That's really all there was to it, 'D'.

    Thanks for the review.:)

love the contrast and comparison. The "reflective grace of God," felt oh so original and eloquent. I've heard some say a dog has no soul, but I think or hope someday I will see my Rocky, my lab someday in heaven. I think if Adam named the animals he will be there. I loved this.
