If we are to believe that everything happens for a reason, this incident is no exception. However, it is not said whether the reason is good or not.
But so far, with the invitation accepted, something augurs well.

Some of us don't mind the length if the story holds our attention, which yours does very easily. This sounds like the beginning of a love story, but I'm sure there is drama waiting around the corner. I'm guessing she is either divorced or maybe a widow. We'll have to wait for part 2 to see if I'm right.

A well written story, with interesting character descriptions and dialogue. The story line is strong and you made good use of descriptive language. I spotted one or two errors-hope you don't mind. Para 8, the Officer shone his flashlight, Para 11, for safety's sake. Four lines up from end, our bellies full. I look forward to the next part. Faye

I like it pretty well after part one. Something about the way you wrote this part makes me not trust Libby. I was waiting for something more dramatic to happen, but you did just as well building your characters in this part. Good start to a story, I'm looking forward to reading the other part.
