Oh, how I know the system. I was a foster mother for twenty years. Once they chose to go off track, they are pretty well doomed. Peer pressure is a great influence and family situations. They pretty well all go back. So sad.

Hi,

Lovely story of succeeding. Sometimes all it takes is a little faith in another person, and making them believe they are worth it.

Great story. Good luck in the contest.

It's not often you see a success, though it is always welcome. Your message here was one that could be applied to every aspect of people's lives, and that's a job well done. Good luck in the contest.

An excellent story. Very well written, uplifting and the best thing about it, it could truly happen.

There are many Thomases out there that need good counsel and help. The problem is that so many refuse it, or they go back to that lifestyle simply because they enjoy it; the money, the power, the drugs and the girls. I was happy to see that Thomas in this story, at least, made the right decision.

Well done, you got my vote!~Dean photo S_zps3a58eae0.jpg

Wow! This is so familiar since my husband worked in a juvenile detention center and his advice turned some lives around. If you got through to sixteen year old, that's exceptional. Congrats on your success and for writing this encourage story. Excellent job with dialoguel

i would love to think this is not fiction and that we could save more of these young people. Just letting them loose to go back to the same environment is never the answer. Well-written story.

I was counting my fake money until I read this! Wow. What a beautifully written piece. The story is compelling and uplifting. You tell it so well and never resort to anything maudlin. Very inspiring. It pays to always make the effort. You never know when that kind word or act of caring will make a difference that one rare time. Good luck in the contest. I never mind losing to excellence. mikey

Prayers to you for reaching one soul. You never know whose life you will touch to make a difference. A very well written and endearing story of a boy given a second chance. So few get that chance. Enjoyable story . Thank you for sharing.
