Hello Brooke,
I appreciated the thought of someone you can always trust to appear...and it turns out to be your shadow. What a great idea! Loved the story you developed and the excellent delivery. Wonderful enjambments enhanced the flow and made for an enjoyable read.
I always appreciate your ability to see those simple things in life and bring them to the page. This was another beautiful example, well done.
Best wishes, Bill

Magical. Peter Pan comes to mind, of course. I love the image of noses pressed up against the window pane, the personification of the shadow, and questioning where the shadows go at night.

A true pleasure to read, Brooke, and a lovely photo besides.

Here we go with the "aww" factor again - what a sweet poem Brooke, and I'm guessing this picture is what prompted it because it's about as cute as it gets. Miranda's photo-processing bill must be enormous, even if she does her own developing. LOL

This is perfect - matching that photo with the poem just perfect. Your sense of flow is really good and each paragraph flows easily into the net. Also good rhyming & rhythm too. Nothing I would change here.

Hi Brooke,
there's something so special the first time you realize you're not alone... and yes, it's the sun that allows such possibilities.

Not only did the photo of Sawyer doing his happy dance put a smile on my face... this entire exceptional write lifted my spirits... and just like magic I was sitting here in dreary cloud and rain... and as soon as I read this, the sun shined through and cast a magic dancing shadow on my key-board... you my sweet lady are a special talent... it was a true pleasure to share the emotion of this poem.

With our thoughts we create,
a knowing of togetherness,
James xx

Shadows in the dark or shadows in the sun.... either way the enigma of character and emotions is a forever pondering landscape

Nice original twist on the shadow friend. Good rhyming lines. Interesting line and contrast...whose plans are spoiled by rain. Adorable photo and very spontaneous mom, Miranda. Great job putting words that are amusing, to a photo:)

I can remember my children seeing their shadows for the first time. It was an awesome experience, but difficult to explain to a two year old. Loved the picture and the sentimentality that went along with it. It's these simple things in life that make us appreciate who we are.

Children love shadows and so do old ladies. Together we capture the simple joy of living. Thank you for sharing Sawyer's dance in poetic form. When it comes to children, I always have a story or two myself. This week a three year old girl and I were water painting. She was doing a lovely job with some greens and blues. I mentioned it looked like a Peacock. She knows birds very well and replied "It is not a pea-hawk". I left it at that. But a moment later I decided that I saw an alligator. She replied, "No, not a bird or animal. It really isn't anything." She turned out a beautiful abstract -- and won the discussion.

The sun does let you see your shadow, examine it, know it for what it is and send it on its way...without fear. The sun or light allows for an examined life, to know yourself. Good psychological insight!
