Shadow Dance is a great little poem - full of movement and the joy of life. My cats used to chase their shadows. Did you know, back in the 1800's witches were avoided by not standing on their shadow; it was said that you would be cursed. Sawyer has a full life and will be able to pass your knowledge down after all your Sawyer Poems!

I did leave a message on your portfolio page - nothing too important. I get annoyed when told 'it does rhyme the American way; bull. :-[ English is English I say.
-
I'll take a look
-
I can't find what you wrote :-)

Last comment right down at the bottom of your page; nancyjam told me that chill did rhyme with reveal? Said it was American...ZZzz.
-
yeah, in American pronunciation chill rhymes with bill and will and hill and reveal rhymes with heel and real and meal. That kind of thing comes up all the time, but realizing this is a global community, realize some writers and readers are going to pronounce stuff differently than I do :-)

This is a fun and lighthearted way to appreciate a sunny day. Not because the flowers or people are enjoying basking in the sun's glow. But because that is when one's shadow appears.

Excellent Poem! The author brings out the delightful
thoughts of a child Swayer's age. The author's words are creative, descriptive and creative. The artwork is awesome and compliments the theme of this poem well.

Brooke;
Another great piece of poetry that I enjoyed reading so much with so much clarity and vibrancy.
The imagery which you have expressed It is so beautiful especially in a line where you described the sadness of being inside instead of outside in the sun with your shadow: "...whose plans are spoiled by rain, and do not want their noses pressed against a window pane." There are many more beautiful imagery that you have expressed in describing your writing.
Again you have proved your imagination to be very inventive and creative especially in lines like: "...For when the morning sun appears, my shadow tags along, And he and I have always known -- together, we belong."
Thank you so much my friend for sharing and posting and may the good Lord be with you always.
Alex
PS: I haven't forgot about the 26th, for I would like to learn how to post punctuation like you.

How did you skip so nimbly around Robert Louis Stevenson and not trip on a single plagiarism? Excellent work yours and his!

Shadows can be such fun especially watching little ones mesmerized by watching their own. This was a great piece with second lines rhyming. Enjoyed this so much.

What a joy to read after listening to depressing news reports. This taps into children's fascination with their shadows. The child loves the sun because it causes him to see his shadow. The comments about the shadow are delightful. He loves to think about where the shadow disappears to when the sun goes down, and if it has a secret life. With all its mystery, the shadow is his friend. Excellent rhyme, and it just breezes along. judi

Judi, thank you so much. Yep, I can't take the depressing news of late. My mission is to lead the parade to happy land even if it's just a fantasy :-) Brooke

You're so welcome. And you bring joy to others as you do so. judi

I remember spending the better part of an hour trying to outsmart my shadow and step away from it when it wasn't watching. LOL. Great moment of discovery in this. Very fun.

Love this one, Brooke.
You have a knack for capturing the joys of childhood. I loved my shadow as a kid and was completely charmed by that section of Peter Pan where he uses soap to stick his shadow back on.
Bravo!! Another gem.

Yes, I did. I am not, however, Valerie. LOL
