This is so beautiful! Make me go back to those special days, like in a dream. I like the special romantic choice of words in this piece.
Great job Deepwater, this is really fun!

Hello deepwater, A poem of sweetness as you look back to yesteryear where a stolen kiss still remains on your lips.

Of note:
Were you the first love that still haunts my heart?

(I'd venture to say, yes.)

dw, if you're still thinking about her, chances are she still thinks of you. Thanks for sharing you walk down memory lane. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

Simply but clearly spoken ideas of the haunting quality of first love. It is so simple and so sad that it ended. You wonder if the other person feels the way you do.
I like the way it rhymes in the middle and not at the beginning or end. Kind of like how a relationship changes from beginning to end.

Keep writing

A great poem about first love. Those were the days. The fluttering heart. Anticipation. Expectation. We thought that we would live forever. Time and circumstance swallowed us until their was nothing left of our first love. Happily first love became true and today and today we have each other. Thanks for a trip down memory lane.

It's funny how we do change when the experience of the first love hits. It's the first innocnet love we have. After that, we have been changed and our eyes have been opened. Great imagery and the kaliediscope of emotions and memories is wonderfully presented. Greaet job.

Hello Deepwater,
Nice piece of poetry beautifully depicting the childhood carefree days drenched with love!
Impressive and matching the theme wording.
Smooth flow with its own rhythm and lively imagery.
Picture complements the theme.
"Do you remember, days long ago?
Carefree all summer, we strolled hand in hand,
First kiss real awkward, I stole in the dark,...."
Excellent!

Hi. Summer in the the sun and the youth and the memories and well..yup. I remember my first summer kiss...I was 14, he was 19 he thought I was 16...not jail bait...he was sweet and never psuhed for nothing other than floating on the lake and holding hands...but, I remember even if he doesn't.

Two words immediately popped into my head when I first read this lovely, tender little verse, Gary. Lisa Davis. She was fourteen (Yes, a teenage girl, wow!), and I, only twelve. I kissed her in Clapper's Woods, a large wooded area which bordered old man Clapper's farm, under a huge elm tree in early autumn. I'm 54 years old now, and I still remember it as if it were yesterday.

Your well written, touching poem captures such moments like this beautifully.

Well done.

If is was 'first love' for her too, I'm sure she will 'remember' with special fondness, even though she eventually 'walked away'.

Very romantic memories, tinged with sadness, but I guess many of us need more than one first love, so as to compare.

On the other hand, many people are so lucky to get it right first time, and many poor souls never have a reciprocal love at all.

Best wishes, Ray
