The verses come across the ear like soft ocean waves. I can hear the music in them.

Love is a funny thing. It never happens when we want it or with the person we believe will right for us. Sometimes the love of our life is just this: "If love should saunter up my walk,
I hope that I'm attentive --
its very possibility
to serve as my incentive,

The photo of Sawyer watching his friend is dramatic in viewpoint and statement. It melts in with your poem.

A sweet poem. Now who is Chloe? A friend, or neighbour? Your words are so amazing here. I love this part:

where heedless inattention
can only lead to sorrow,

and sorrow's such a needless way
to waste away life's passing --

O, how I have learned this the hard way. This picture is very sweet. Your words are powerful.

Love the last stanza, No truer words ever spoken from such a fine poet. Beautiful photo. Little ones always brings a smile to those who allow such. Blessings to you Brooke.

"Love is just around the corner". This poem is so up. I love
"and sorrow 's such a needless way to waste away life's passing
The syllable count is 8-7-8-7; 8-7-7-7;8-7-8-7 Why did you choose a 8 syllable line in stanza 2 when all three were 7 syllables. I was just wondering. Or , maybe I counted wrong
You could have made it 7 like the rest; "for love's possibility..."
The poem flow and id pleasing ti read. I love it?

Thank you, Sonja, for your thoughtful attention to this poem. I had not noticed that syllable count. Since I like the poem as is, I removed the 8/7/8/7 description from the description line :-) Brooke

That is often what happens in life, we let good times and good people slip by without realising it. Well chosen words and rhyming to convey your message. Cutest picture. Faye

Hi Brooke
That's so cute. I enjoyed your piece very much. I like how you took the possibility of love from verse one, and ran with it in verse two. Then you took sorrow from verse two, and ran with it in verse three. We need to be ready for love, or at least the possibility of love. The opposite is just sorrow and a wasted life.
We've been watching Doc Martin on the tube. Have you seen it? It's pretty popular in England where it originates. Actually, the scenery of the west coastal town is stunning. I'd love to visit one day. Anyway, Doc Martin is in love with the primary school teacher, Louisa Glasson. But he's so shy to make a move. (He's a bit of an oddball.) He finally proposes in season 3/episode 20. It fits your poem perfectly. If you haven't seen this series, I guarantee you'll love it.
Nicely penned! (as usual)
your fan,
Kimbob
