This is attractive to the eye. Nice artwork. Looks like a work of art. Nice choice of words. Over all, a good poem. Wish you good in the contest. This is superior workmanship. I like it. A contender. Count your doubloon. wackydo, do loco

'By Autumn they'd Fall' is a well-written, but somewhat convoluted piece. To me this poet's work is open to several
interpretations. This was an interesting work to both read and review.

A strong Scottish lass leading and defending her own.
GO GIRL!
Autumn, season of fall(ing)
or fall(ing) of the enemy by autumn.
Works for me.
Great writing, Rubylou

I love the different take on Autumn - more so, I like the Scottish Queen of Mean that has already come up with a plan for death and destruction - and there had better be a followup tome to this! Great artwork selection and excellent 5-7-5.
Love it when a plan comes together.....AT=/

Thanks, Jean, I will follow up, and maybe even do a series about Princess Autumn, I promise you. I thought it would be doing a lot better in the voting booth than it is. I guess it's not good try try and think outside the proverbial "box" here on good ole FanStory. Perhaps I should have done what nearly almost everyone else did, and write about the season Autumn. But, I like to be different, and try to be innovative in my thinking,. Sometimes, it just comes back to bite you in the --well ... you know. LOL.
Thanks again for the awesome review, my friend. I appreciate it immensely!

I haven't checked the booth - will do so now! I really do like the thought of a Princess taking care of her kingdom - always loved Highlander. Backatcha Big Guy
-
Highlander is one of my favorite all time movies. "There can be only one!"
-
Unless you think about Big Trouble in Little China.....
-
Believe it or not, I'm not too crazy about Big Trouble in Little China. But highlander, as well as Mel Gibson's Braveheart, oh yeah! I could watch each of those a hundred times! On second thought, I probably have, heh-heh... :}
-
Okay - First Knight is okay too! But, Highlander is also my #1.
-
Got 'cha! :}
-
Oh, I forgot Gladiator with Russel Crowe, and the story of Leonidas and the Spartans taking on the Persian hordes at Thermophiles in Frank Miller's fabulously filmed 300 as well. So many great ones out there, but Highlander still holds the slight edge for me. 300 is a very close second. Very close!

Her hatred burned bright,
wronged Scottish lass of Darkwood.
By Autumn, they'd fall...
Wow. Incorporating a Scottish beauty into this 5-7-5 is creative.

Oh, i sure hope so, Jax, 'cause I am getting my booty spanked in the voting booths right now! I wanted to do something a little bit different, but am now thinking that perhaps I should have done what everyone else did, stick to writing about the season.
I'm glad that you enjoyed it, at least, and I really appreciate your encouraging review.

This is a very strong contest entry. I can see that Autumn is not to be messed with. I wish you the best of luck with the contest.

Thank you, Barbara, very much. It's not doing very well in the contest. Perhaps I should have done what most others did and stuck to the status quo. Not too many care too much for thinking outside the box here on FanStory. Just do the same old thing everyone else does, and you'll do just fine.
Oh..woe is me, LOL...

I completely understand. I write romance but not the usual format; boy meets girl, they jump into bed, and get married. I have an actual story behind them, therefore I am never a book of the month nominee and I tried a few times for Quality Seal, nope. I've given up on it.
-
I feel your pain, Barbara. It's hard to try and be different, to stand out form the "norm". You get so much criticism for it, but I think both you & I would agree that in the end, it is well worth the effort.
-
I agree. I think my novels are much better than a couple jumping in bed. Your creativity is superb. You have a great talent.
-
Thanks, Barbara, I really appreciate that coming from you. But I could say the same thing about you, my friend. :]

I'm not acquainted with the story of the Scottish princess of Darkwood, but I can surmise from the poem that she is quite a challenge to deal with when she's riled up. Interesting. Good luck, Jeanie Mercer

Quite a challenge is right, Jeanie. Why she single-handedly routed King Montague and his fifty men at the battle of Burlewood, in 1622! Nope, she most definitely was not one to be trifled with, this Autumn McKenna!
Thanks for the exceptional review, my friend. I truly appreciate it!:}

There you go again Dean, stretching the envelope, lol. I noticed in the last "Football" prompt, it specifically stated, "NO ZOMBIE TEAMS" lol. (Wonder where that came from? Hee,hee). Still, I liked your original thought and projection in this 5-7-5. Besides, I've always liked the name Autumn, as it makes me think of harvest. (You know I'm always thinking with my stomach, lol). I have learned through experience to never piss-off a red-head...firey tempers!
Anyway, best of luck with your entry, Bill

Thanks, Bill, but how in the world did you know that I wrote it? I even used just one picture to throw people off, LOL!
It is doing horribly in the voting booth, but it is still early. I really appreciate these encouraging words from you. I needed it!
Thanks again, Bill. It is always a pleasure.

Very interesting concept for this. The princess of Darkwood sounds intriguing. You do bring in the seasons. Great play with the words autumn and fall--seasonal, but also saying that the Scottish lass is going to cause heads to roll. For such a short one, this really tells a story. Nice alliteration with burned and bright. Precise syllable count. Good luck to you in the contest. judi

Thanks for the encouraging kind review, Judi. I tried to think outside the box a bit for this one. But based on how it is performing in the contest, perhaps I should have done what everyone else did, write about the season. Still, it was a fun story to tell in so few words, and I'm very happy with it, even if none of the voters are.
