They seem to be having a lot of fun making funny faces. This is a very cute poem Brooke. It makes a good case for what a very bad day might be in a child's world. Well done! Nancy

You're making me smile again...

This poem is such a joyous thought projection. It flows within its thoughts so very smoothly and is just what we all need for our days... A smiling face... John

Love the art work, which of course pairs perfectly with this fun poem.

A smile, or especially funny face, is all it takes to make me feel better about a near disastrous day.

Or better still, a poem that makes me chuckle, especially when I read it aloud,

Thanks for making my day

Iechyd da

Ann

Brooke: an uplifting, make me giggle kind of poem. The pictures are cute and every time I see a new picture of Sawyer, I realize what a lucky little boy is he to have such good parents who are so involved in his life and a grandma who writes poem about his life. Once he grows up, he will have such a solid history of good times to remember and pass on to his children. Question: do you ever write in free verse? I don't remember seeing anything of yours written in anything different than quatrains and 8/6/8/6.
Just curious. I know that you prefer this style. Linda

Linda, thank you so much - I don't write free verse but also write things like rondeaux and triolets that follow various rhyming and meter patterns. Brooke

How true. How true. The faces people make for photographs, especially, crack me up. Just yesterday I saw a toddler let go of her balloon in the parking lot. An accident, of course. She looked about to cry when her big brother (about 3) looked at her with an outrageous funny face and they both looked up in the sky and laughed hysterically. She was still laughing when her mom was buckling her into her car seat. Great little poem. Thanks for posting.

Oh... well, geesh, Brooke. If I'd known that sooner, I would have been making them at myself in the mirror everyday a long time ago to brighten up an otherwise dull and listless day. I was under the impression that it took lots of beer, pizza, a few dirty limericks and watching old stand-up comedy routines by George Carlin for hours on end to get the job done. If only I'd known it was that dag gone easy, heh-heh...

All joking aside, this was one of those true feel-good poem that would be perfect in a book of poetry for older kids. I needn't tell you how well rhymed, metered and well written it is, that goes without saying!

Excellent work, Brooke, a real Jim Dandy!

I just let out a guffaw at the thought of Miranda and Sawyer settling back with some beer and pizza as they trade dirty poems LOL Thanks for the review and the laugh, my funny friend :-) Brooke

This poem is fun as well as instructive in its charming analysis of what could be seen as a bad day and its cure. We get both the item that turns it all around and examples of its application.

To adewpearl,
An interesting view of faces awaiting Daddy but with the mirage of circumstances he has to hear about will certainly flatten his ear drums. LOL
Very nice flow that read fluently.
