Brooke: an uplifting, make me giggle kind of poem. The pictures are cute and every time I see a new picture of Sawyer, I realize what a lucky little boy is he to have such good parents who are so involved in his life and a grandma who writes poem about his life. Once he grows up, he will have such a solid history of good times to remember and pass on to his children. Question: do you ever write in free verse? I don't remember seeing anything of yours written in anything different than quatrains and 8/6/8/6.
Just curious. I know that you prefer this style. Linda

Brooke: an uplifting, make me giggle kind of poem. The pictures are cute and every time I see a new picture of Sawyer, I realize what a lucky little boy is he to have such good parents who are so involved in his life and a grandma who writes poem about his life. Once he grows up, he will have such a solid history of good times to remember and pass on to his children. Question: do you ever write in free verse? Linda, thank you so much - I don't write free verse but also write things like rondeaux and triolets that follow various rhyming and meter patterns. Brooke

How true. How true. The faces people make for photographs, especially, crack me up. Just yesterday I saw a toddler let go of her balloon in the parking lot. An accident, of course. She looked about to cry when her big brother (about 3) looked at her with an outrageous funny face and they both looked up in the sky and laughed hysterically. She was still laughing when her mom was buckling her into her car seat. Great little poem. Thanks for posting.

Oh... well, geesh, Brooke. If I'd known that sooner, I would have been making them at myself in the mirror everyday a long time ago to brighten up an otherwise dull and listless day. I was under the impression that it took lots of beer, pizza, a few dirty limericks and watching old stand-up comedy routines by George Carlin for hours on end to get the job done. If only I'd known it was that dag gone easy, heh-heh...
All joking aside, this was one of those true feel-good poem that would be perfect in a book of poetry for older kids. I needn't tell you how well rhymed, metered and well written it is, that goes without saying!
