A beautiful poem you've written there, Sandra:)
I loved it.
"Throughout those days of long ago,
When we were young and life was slow
We did such things and had such fun,
And life was good for everyone. "
Made me think of my own childhood with Grandma: going to beaches, playing around in farmlands, and sitting beside riverbanks. She was always for me. My childhood ended when I left her in 2004. Wish I could go back to those fun moments.
Hugs

The one thing you will never lose, Amanda, are those wonderful memories of your happy times with them. I go back more than 60 years, and I can tell you now, those memories are as clear and dear to me now, as they were back then. They are something you can always fall back on if you need something to put a smile on your face. Thank you so much for your lovely review and spcecial thoughts on my poem. :) Sandra

You're absolutely right about that, Sandra. I really miss my grandma and wish I had been a better girl. Many villagers considered me to be a wild child. Lol. I was a tomboy back then.
I wil definitely treasure my time with Phyllis. You and her are SO nice and supportive, always keeping me smiling. Thank you for being there for me, Sandra.
Hugs and love
Amanda

Hi Sandra :)
What a lovely fun-filled story, told in excellent rhythm and aabb rhyme. You and your siblings must have loved your Grandmamma and Grandpa!
The story flows so well. I love the title and the way the finishing stanza sums up your lovely memories:
"Throughout those days of long ago,
When we were young and life was slow
We did such things and had such fun,
And life was good for everyone"
(Was this a contest entry?)
So nice to do some reviewing again - yours was the first I picked! (I've sent you an email too - speak to you soon).
God bless,
love Christine x

thank you, my very dear friend! This wasn't in a contest, it was just a sharing of a memory that was triggered when I watched some children feeding some ducks. I adored my grandparents, my grandpa spoiled me, he called me, sooky-loo, I never did find out where that came from. :) I really am pleased you have read it and enjoyed it, Christine, thank you, and a huge hug for the 6 stars!! I will go and look for your e-mail. xsx Sandra

Sandra, you took me for a walk down memory lane and you described it exceedingly well. But, thinks have changed. Now, the young ones take their cellphones, pads and tablets and continue to remain in their own daily world with friends and favorite sites. Bob

You are so right, Bob, they miss such a lot that way to. I'm so pleased you liked my memories with my grandparents, they were such fun days. I wouldn't trade them for todays 'fun'. Thank you, Bob for your lovely words. :) xsx Sandra

This is so sweet Sandra. Fun family time. I remember it well. You should have entered this in the Story in a poem contest. I do love your dear Grandpa. He sounds like fun. Well done. xsx Nancy

He was, I loved him to bits and was unjustly cross with him when he died. I loved both my grandparents. My mother was just like her dad, she was such good fun as a grandparent. I hope I am living up to their example, and being a fun grandmother! Memories are such special things. Thank you so very much, Nancy, I am delighted you enjoyed it, and big hugs for the shiny 6 stars- :) Sandra xsx

Sandra this is a lovely poem. You tell a lovely story about your childhood so well - and I got quite nostalgic. all so long ago for me - but the piece that struck home was about the sweets and your Ma saying "They're not for now, put them away" - I can remember being told that and your poem put a lump in my throat. Written from the heart and deserves a 6 - I have none. I always wish I had saved one when I read something like this. Lovely. Kind regards Dorothy x

That is so nice of you, Dorothy. It is funny what little memories come back when something gives it a little push. I was watching a child with his mother, throwing bread to the ducks, and suddenly I was 60 years back in time. They were wonderful days, Dorothy, I am sure you must have many too. I'm so pleased you enjoyed it. :) Sandra

Hey Sandra, what a beautifully nostalgic and gentle reminder of years gone by, tour Grandpa and grandmamma must have been beautiful people to have the sort of effect on you that would last forever, A well written poem with beautiful rhyme and rhythm and a flow as gentle as those summer days.

They really were, Eric. When they died I was so angry with them for leaving me, bless them, but the memories they left me were priceless. Thank you so very much for all the nice things you said about my poem, Eric, I'm really pleased you enjoyed it. :) Sandra

You capture the nostalgia of days gone by most beautifully in this, Sandra. That lovely teasing harmony between the generations is worth more than all the tea in China, as my dear old grandpa used to say! The rhyme and rhythm of your couplets are faultless. This poem just surges along unfolding your tale of childhood bliss as it goes.

Sandra, by the time I turned 6, both my grandfathers had passed away. I was robbed of the possible fun days with them. My grandmothers left this world in '71 and '76. They were the best. Loving we grandchildren and never showing favoritism.
Your poem brought back some memories of my grandpa's. There are many excellent depictions in this wonderful poem. It is a fun and heart warming piece to read.
Well done my precious friend. Love you much,,,,,,,Jim xxx

Hi Jim, how are you my dear friend? I am really pleased you liked this one, but so sorry you didn't have your grandparents with you for a longer period of time. I was so lucky to have mine, and I hope my grandchildren will remember me as fondly. Please drop me a line, I would love to hear what you are doing now. Loving you lots, my friend. Sandra. xxx

Oh-h, my dear Sandra,
What sweet, sweet memories - your lovely poem had me yearning for yesteryear myself.
There is such an R.L. Stevenson feel about the quatrains - I could see this illustrated in a children's anthology.
The tone is very English ... of course!
Hope the knees are progressing as they ought.
Hugs and kisses,
Sonali

Now that is a compliment, Sonali, Robert Lewis Stevenson on the same page as me? What can I say. I am so pleased you enjoyed it. I have loads of wonderful memories of my darling grandfather. Thank you so much, my dear friend. xsx sandra
