Wow Gail, this is a wonderfully romantic piece of free verse, you have really captured the essence of two lovers on a first night together, I am not a great fan of free verse, but you make it sound beautiful.

I think you are used to writing in rhyme:) I think it has a bit too much rhyme to be considered free verse but good luck anyway.

Very beautifully, and it flows so smoothly. I like your word choices, and you create a wonderful atmosphere of first love. It suggests the intensity and feelings of the moment. Great sensory appeal with the fragrance and the kisses. In second line, make that "A ring of gold lies," not lay, as you seem to be going for present throughout most of this. Best of luck in the contest with this heartfelt poem of love. judi
