What's Ordinary?

Anytime you are with a child, an outing is never ordinary. The questions come fast and furious and with great intensity. The need to have it answered is immediate and none of that 'let me get back to you on that!'
I so remember my girls at that age and the constant barrage of questions, statements and the calling of, Ma, Ma, Ma, Ma ad infinitum - and there is nothing I wouldn't give to have that time back!
Great poem Brooke - another ace for your portfolio and addition to Sawyer's Book of Grandma!

The magic of an inquisitive child or their desire to do something with great enthusiasm is mesmerizing. And you are right, how does one really define "ordinary"? Is an ordinary day just boring, or perhaps our day is very good and we just don't realize it so we consider it "ordinary". This could go on for many paragraphs. I would not do that to you, Brooke. Best wishes.

This is the perspective of a true artist. We see nothing as ordinary and everything as something to inspire. The repetition of repetition of the last line with the first on each verse gives it a song like quality.

Do you know Brooke, I read your poems through and through, time and again, trying to find out some of your hidden secrets, but I have now realised that there aren't any! You are just a naturally gifted and brilliant writer, this beautiful poem is exceptionally perfect!

These little things are what matter. Good mono rhymes in each stanza. Some alliteration and a lovely rhythm. What can be better than spending time as a family.i enjoyed reading tis and especially loved the repetition of your lines and the questions

Ordinary outings are often the most special, as are the little wonders you describe in your poem. It is very enjoyable reading, as always.

So much in life is extra "ordinary" isn't it. Once considered, as you have said here, all things in there one unique way are beyond the ordinary. Loren

Another delightful poem for children of all ages to get them contemplating why they call something ordinary. When we think about it, EVERYTHING is extraordinary. I love the photo you chose. It's rare to see mom, pop, and Sawyer all in the same shot.
The look of wonder in your darlin's eyes is extraordinary too.
Nice work in of your screen name:
where on the grass the dew is pearled
Loved it.
My goodness, Brooke - you just seem to get all my sixes.
Rose.
