Good point as to what ordinary is not, depending on the attitude we have toward the day ahead of us. Writing can make a day wonderful for the writer, and the world would never know just how much so, until the words are read.

Hi Brooke - Six good stanzas in rhyming couplets. Nice format with the first word in each stanza repeated in the last. Lovely sentiment. Really I think everything in life is extraordinary, even a simple shopping trip. No two trips are ever quite the same. Lovely happy family picture - makes me wish I was once again a young mum. Kind regards Dorothy x

A most extraordinary poem which sets my brain awhirl thinking of all the countless verses that could be added to this poem if we just look about at our amazing world. I love the repetition and the layers of thought and creativity in this piece and the form fits the meaning perfectly. A great little poem that deserves its own book. Brooke, you could make a fortune selling picture books. Please publish these!

As usual, your poems are delightful. You certainly write a lot and it amazes me that your rhymes and themes are consistently fresh. A tremendous feat! So well done, Brooke.

Flowing poem of how wonderful the world is through a child's eye. I like the envelop rhyme and the repetition to show the introspection and wondering.

It is sad that when we get older we seem to forget that in the bustle of the working world. No happy day should be seen as ordinary.

It is a good family picture. It does seem like Sawyer is intensely interested in all he is seeing.

Keep writing

Joan

Hi Brooke. Lovely poem with a great message. We go for regular walks on Dartmoor - every walk is different - even if we occasionally go to the same place. I hate the word 'ordinary' - its a lazy word and often belittling. I was at an art exhibition on Saturday night and one of the artists had photographed 'ordinary' items. His message was we ignore these things on a daily basis, but stop to think about what their role is and how much more difficult life would be without them. It's like when people describe a child as ordinary... every child, and person for that matter, has a special quality - we just have to take the time to find it. Tony

Brooke, What a wonderful poem. I wish we adults would
see things differently, like children. Children seem
to have excitement about so many things we just take
for granted. We should see the specialness of every
moment of life.

Your nice poem touches upon a general tendency in man to take things for granted. We do not find anything extraordinary in grass while walking over it nor do we wonder why moon showers its light on us lifting our moods. I think this is because we treat people and nature with a bit of ego which prevents us from finding extraordinariness in them. A very thought provoking poem!

Great poem, Brooke, and love the photo. I gather Sawyer is your grandson. I guess as he gets older he will understand what an extraordinary Grandmother he has, too! Congratulations on th Awards.
