Yes, It is evident they do have a lot of fun as a family.
It seems as though every day is another adventure. That is so cool and then they have the pictures and your poems to remember each one. Great fun! Nancy

You raise an interesting question about what ordinary means. Ordinary can be the most extraordinary when we recall the memories of life and it looks like you have found one of them.
I like the question at the beginning of each stanza and how it echoes again as the last line of the stanza to draw deeper meaning to the question as the reader is prompted to ponder it.
Excellent rhymes

The first line caught my attention fast. It hit me right on my skin. A worm, a very small living creature just moving slowly along.... What is significant about this creature? Then the weeds...then the grass...(is a grass not a weed?). Then the moon, the sky and finally the world. The thought flowed freely. (However, I thought that the weed and the grass are, one in concept, although I realized its image and presentation of each, is with elegance and beauty).I admire the rhyme and rhythm. The poem resembles the beauty of a setting sun, or of a rising dawn. Congratulations. Dom

There is nothing ordinary about a family outing, it is the best! When my girls were little and even when they were in their teens! Our eldest is now is in her thirties, and when we visit they continue family tradition of road trips, and we have been away with them! Clever rhyming in this poem, Brooke, is it any particular type? I know it's abba rhyming, great story! Even meter! Articulate, great skill! Blessings. Roy.

I agree. I have often thought that my husband and I lead boring lives. We're at home doing our own thing. Not out partying like many people, but then I thought we actually have fun doing our own thing. We're really fun people and don't need all this other stuff. Good poem and gives people a reason to reflect.

Barbara, thanks so much :-) I think lots of people convince themselves their lives are less exciting than those of people on the social circuit, but I agree, if you are enjoying your time together at home doing the things you enjoy, what is ordinary or boring about that? Brooke

Nothing, my husband and I have decided we are fun people.

Actually, when I went to Phoenix for a training this spring, on lady got a box of chocolate covered strawberries, another got a bottle of wine delivered to the room. I said, You guys get presents and all I get are phone calls. One of the ladies said, but you have what most of us want. I took a hard look at that. It's true.

These are great questions about what makes things ordinary in our lives. It is sad sometimes when we forget how extraordinary our world is. Thanks for the reminder! 8-)

I love the photo of your lovely family.
so times the ordinary things in life are more special to a child then going places that will put mommy and daddy in debt. Thank you for sharing.

The repetition in this poem coupled with the theme makes a delightful poem. Your rhythmic quatrains and your aaaa rhyme would make a child read/listen with delight. I love the "ordinary" choices...and the second line in each stanza. Well done.
