What an extraordinary poem to match the beautiful family in the picture. I always smile whenever I see a family that shares old-fashion time together, so rare these days. Bless you for sharing.

Great write about ordinary things. The questions Are food for thought either by child or adult.
Nice thinking write you have written. Did you ever find the answers to your questions?
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much, Angel Debbie, for your generous response to this poem :-) I think the answer to my questions is that there is nothing ordinary about any of these things :-) Brooke

How delightful is your thought provoking verse. All life is special and for a child
is a wonderful and delightful memory that will live forever with our grandchildren after we are long
gone. A lovely verse. Robin :)

What's ordinary? That is indeed the question I ask all the time.
"What's ordinary in the moon,
who makes waves dance without a tune?
I'd like to know the answer soon --
What's ordinary in the moon?"
The part of your poem about the moon is my favorite.
There's nothing ordinary about the moon.
The flow of your poem is great and it's very well written and I really like it

A very rare picture of the three of them together, Brooke. I think, it's the first one I saw with all three.
I especially liked the part about the worm:
What's ordinary in a worm,
who tills the soil with every squirm?
Some things, it seems, I've yet to learn --
What's ordinary in a worm?
The second like is a strike of genius.
You are so good with words! What a delightful tale for children 3 to 80 (smile).
Thanks for the fun, love, Yelena

Thanks so much, Yelena - yep, it's hard to put all three in the same picture since someone has to take the picture :-) I'm so glad you enjoyed this :-) Brooke

I like this family cheer brought about by the photo, and the poem stresses these values in a heartfelt way. Really like the moon lines...who makes waves dance without a tune? The last stanza has a little "flag" imagery. Good poem:)

Brooke, this is a great poem of the meaning of ordinary. All that you speak about is certainly not ordinary! I remember when my mom showed me how to gather many different weeds and dip them into a liquid gold to preserve them. Then after they dried, I got a floor vase and put them in for the most beautiful decoration ever! Your last stanza is wonderful, where you exchange all of the above from the word ordinary to extraordinary, and I agree! Everything in this world is that, as anyone can see by reading each stanza. I'm so glad you posted this, and I enjoyed very much. . .Sharon

No, nothing is ordinary. Memories are created -- and it is important to create good ones for our kids. Even ordinary events can sometimes give us great pleasure to think about many years later. I enjoyed this poem - it was deep, and the structure was pleasing.

It is the ordinary everyday occurrences that give rise to extraordinary incidents as you pointed out in your poem, Brooke. I feel the skill is in recognising those extraordinary moments. Quite an extraordinary take on things! Giddy
