When my granddaughter was in second grade, her dad asked her to make her own school lunch and said she could make any kind of sandwich she wanted - so she made an M&M sandwich. Sawyer proably would like that, too. This is a fun poem and so typical of what a kid would like and dislike. Love, Jeanie

Thanks so much, Jeanie - yep, he loves his chocolate. LOL Right now the only sandwich that is made with bread that he eats is peanut butter and jelly :-) Brooke

I enjoyed reading your poem emensely. Sawyer always takes my heart away, he's already a lady's man. I especially like the easy flow of your poem and the bit of comedy in each line.

Hi Brooke,
Your poems are such an oasis for me. I've been so overwrought with both domestic and international turmoil ...
I adore every single word in every single line in every single stanza. You used such wit and charm writing about how a Mom can really goof up meals, lol.
Hugs,
Lou

Kids can be such fussy eaters sometimes. Your covey it well here in this jaunty poem. So like kids to only want sweets and distain protein and vegetables. I enjoyed the theme as well as the Rhythm and rhyme.

I got to say 90% of kids would agree with the sentiment of this poem. About the only thing I did not like as a child was brussel sprouts, veggies were something I learned to like early. Great work on this one!

Gargantuan, thank you so much :-) We'd be thrilled if Sawyer disliked only one thing. Brooke

I wish I had a six for the clever rhyming in this! Clueless/chewless is a classic! When you're prepared to risk it, you sure do take the biscuit... especially when it's wrapped around a good dollop of ice-cream!

My wife just made me cauliflower with cheese; delicious. So with my taste buds sated, naturally I was attracted to this poem which stimulates the taste senses. It covers lots of sensations within its clever premise, well structured verse and immaculate meter. I loved the ice-cream sandwic finish as it was one of my favourite treats as a child. That's when I first became fat, surprise, surprise. Excellent poem, Brooke, worthy of six big shiny stars.

Oh, that's gonna make a mess! LOL! Even I would need a bib to tackle that!
Loved the third stanza. "but she insists on pouring it, all over cauliflower." Great rhyming, Brooke.

Brooke, that is so funny. Children may indeed think
like that about what mom serves them. All children
like ice cream though. Great job of rhyming on these
quatrains.

Hi Brooke - I like a kid who knows what he likes LOL. This is a really cute poem. Can't go wrong with ice-cream. Five stanzas in good abcb rhyme full of your usual amazing ideas. I really enjoyed this one. The first two lines are great! Kind regards Dorothy
