I just love that bouncy rhythm and humorous rhyming. It really sounds like the sing-song of a child reciting a list of culinary dislikes. "Cower" and "cauliflower" just made me chuckle. Such a delightful rhyme! You round everything off so neatly in the final stanza, ending as you began with praise for "Mom". This is a real day brightener. Thanks!

Geez, Ma, it has 'wurst' right in it's name? How good can it be? And cauliflower? Who named that, the joker who named Greenland?

So what the heck is wrong with a good old ice cream sandwich? It's got all the good major food groups. Sugar. Chocolate. Sugar.

Lots of fun, Brooke. Chewless is right!

Peace, Lee

It is all gray, rainy and gloomy here, so thank you for that laugh and for the shiny extra star :-) Lee, you're the best, practically as good as ice cream :-) Brooke

Great fun opinions of Sawyer's not too complimentary views of Mom's cooking, Brooke...until the ending treat of course.

I found all the stanzas great fun, but think my fave is the 'tuna' verse.

Excellent.

Cheers, Ray

Thanks so much, Ray :-) Mom doesn't take it personally because he won't eat anything other than those few things on his very short list any where else either :-) Brooke

I'm sure Sawyer wrote this poem since it's what children don't like. I'm glad I taught my boys to eat vegetables
from a very young age.
Dear Brooke, I always enjoy your writings, and his one was
very funny, it made my Sunday.

Have a very happy Sunday.

Any hints on how you "taught" them to eat veggies? - Miranda can't get Sawyer to touch them, and all the hints from a professional nutritionist she visited don't work either :-) Thanks so much for your review, Bryana :-) Brooke

And couldn't we all relate to this one. Lovely story rhyme about the 'good for you' foods mums try to convince us to eat. Gave me a chuckle, I would never have eaten any of them except for the icecream sandwich either.Nice read Brooke.

Brooke, My grandson won't eat meat or vegetables, but he does eat a big cucumber every day. He likes most fruit, so I call him a Fruitarian. Of course, he likes McDonald fries. AND he too, is a finger-licking ice cream kid.

Your poem is a delightful and whimsical rhyme. I enjoyed it, as I do every poem that you write. Smiles, Carole

Cute picture of Sawyer!

Thanks so much, Carole - yep, Sawyer's go to food is fruit :-) That and cheese and peanut butter and jelly and anything chocolate or ice cream :-) Brooke

As a young child, I'd invite myself to my best friend's house whenever mom made liver or liverwurst. This poem resonated. Delightful as always with smooth, unforced rhymes. T2

Sounds like my 4 year old Jacob. If it is topped with Vanilla ice cream the food is eaten. Well done Brooke. Great photo of our little buddy.

Ben, thanks so much :-) The problem with Sawyer is that if you top something with ice cream, he will just eat the ice cream topping. LOL :-) Brooke

Ah, look at the Cute Little One with his ice cream sandwich. I have to agree, mothers can be clueless sometime about what a growing child really needs to eat :) This is another well crafted poem.

CR, thank you so much :-) Sawyer is the planet's pickiest eater. Miranda would never even try to feed him some of this stuff. She'd be happy if he's eat a chicken nugget or a burger. LOL Thanks so much for your review :-) Brooke
