Hello there~!
I absolutely love this poem and I can kinda relate to it too. I'm not a big veggie eater or a fish eater. I loved the idea of the fish jumping back into the ocean! LOL!
And yeah, I too love a nice ice-cream sandwich (or any other desert for that matter!) LOL!
Great Job!
Loved it!

JazakAllah Khair~!
(God Bless~!)

I truly loved this one. My daughter, Katrina, HATED everything except peanut butter, hot dogs, and cheerios. Dinner time was not a joyous family event at our house. She didn't even like desert...too sweet. I really enjoyed this poem it reminded me of the fun days with my precious 5 year old.

Valerie, Sawyer has a list that is not much longer, and his doesn't include hot dogs - the only protein he likes is cheese and peanut butter and yogurt, no meat. Luckily, he loves several types of fruit. And if it's chocolate or ice creams, we're golden. LOL :-) Brooke

Dear Brooke - kids will love this poem as good as the ice cream bar - ok maybe not right away. Nicely penned with solid rhyme and smooth read. Perfect.
Thanks for sharing.
Maureen

Thanks so much, Maureen. I'd be a tad suspicious of a child who chose my poem over ice cream. LOL :-) Brooke

And I concur young man. Mothers
though have the upper hand, as
surely they should. Grannies though
are another race! Fun and frolicks in
this Brooke, and Sawyer will thank
her later. Eric

Excellent. You have covered the child's "yuk" list very well. You'll be amazed...one day he'll grow up and love cauliflower with cheese sauce. The rhyme and playful rhythm are delightful Love your work!

This one is priceless. I love the "attitude" - so realistic. My girls hated liver wurst and to this day give me grief about having tried to feed it to them(lol)
Your rhyming is so clever and fun to read and the situation universal.
I'm glad he likes ice cream - at least he'll get protein!

Nancy, thank you so very much. I'm with your girls on the liverwurst issue - it's the first awful food that jumped into my head when I began to write this. Thanks so much for your lovely sixth star :-) Brooke

Well, I could not agree with your narrator's funny, poetic comments more, Brooke. Celery? YUCK, No way, Jose! Broccoli, liver & oninos...heck no, I'd rather starve first! Head cheese...ick! Cauliflower... nope, not havin' any of it, cheesed or otherwise. Tuna casserole, not on your life! Now, liverwurst with some good, buttery Keebler's Club crackers? Yeah, I can tolerate that, LOL...

Funny little poem, and who say's picky eaters don't have a sense of humor?

Great work...

Dean, thanks so much - Sawyer, bless his little heart, is the pickiest eater on the planet. I actually love broccoli, but then you can tolerate liverwurst, which I detest on the same level as eating bugs. LOL :-) Brooke

Hah, bug eating... yeah, that's pretty detestable, Brooke, I'll give you that, LOL.

You are very welcome, my friend.

Terrific tome Brooke. I actually can see those words spitting from from Sawyer's mouth..... Though I am a fan of cauliflower and cheese sauce, I might understand the objection of a child - but liverwurst and mustard on rye with some baby swiss cheese....oh, that is tasty! Like this! Jean

Jean, thank you so much :-) Sawyer doesn't even like hamburger or chicken let alone liverwurst. We keep waiting for him to start liking some more foods. :-) Brooke

You brought back childhood memories with this one.

My mom often served liverwurst sandwiches which we never thought of declining knowing full well that "mom wasn't a short order cook" and our house was not "a gosh derned resturant". LOL

So much whimsy and humor in these delightful rhyming quatrains.

Hugs.d

fourth line - MY immediate thought on the word (it's) seemed improper. I guess it is in the way the poem is read, but I would suggest the word (it) rather than (it's). Just my humble opinion. cute poem thought and I agree with Sawyer about the Tuna fish. LOL
