I am quite sure most kids would have lots to say about what Mum serves up for them, if they ever dared. Apart from cabbage and sprouts my kids knew it was best to eat what they were given, to a certain degree! Cute poem about the likes and dislikes of a child. Good rhyming and choice of words to convey your sweet message. Faye

Another sweetheart of a poem set to
rhyme, that when one gazes at the
photo of Sawyer and then reads your
tale of I love My Mom, but, it is sure
to bring a smile to anyone's face.
Well done

This is a brilliant hoot from a child's perspective but it could also be from an adult's perception of the homemade food that made our stomachs go kinky and funny, smiles. When we get our favorite food we tend to forget all the rest of the other food we do not like.
Couples have been thinking hard of what to cook for lunch and dinner over a span of twenty years and only some level of agreement has been reached. As long as there's food on the table, it's best not to complain unless we want to go to bed with an emty stomach. Ice cream sandwish is a true delight here in Asia, :)).
Great write and well pen.
Maybe "I love my mom" means "I love my favorite food when my mom prepares them".
Cheerio, hugs, Ritchie. :))

I love my Mom too! I really do!

I love the first line of your very refreshing and sweet poem.
I remember when I was younger, I had black eyed peas and my mother used to tell me all kinds of stories to get me to eat them. Those stories never worked, lol!

I too use to wish tuna fish would jump back in the ocean.

Such a sweet poem

Brooke;
you are a very imaginative genius in writing such a poem like this And the pictures just precious and complements the poem so well.
As I said your imagination is truly inventive and creative in your imagery is not only funny and humorous but very descriptive and expressive in this.
Your rhyming, meter and tempo along with your rhythm is remarkably exceptional where your rhyming is neither forced nor labored why your rhythm flows smoothly throughout your poem.
Thank you so much for sharing and posting everyone to read and may the Lord be with you and yours always.

Delightful as always Brooke. I think we can all relate to this poem. I can't even begin to think about the things my mother used to make me eat. But then she would make it up by giving me a treat.

I loved reading this aloud. I did chuckle over it. I could picture it as being something Sawyer might be saying.

Great picture of the young man, he is growing so quickly.

Thanks for sharing, and for the memories.

sawyer is at it again, rhyming and communicating in his unique poetic style. and by the way, i love liverwurst -- of course that has nothing to do with the poem. you have such a fun way of expressing such basic responses to the everyday experience of a child. oh yes sandwiches of ice cream, yum.

Hi Brooke. This is absolutely hilarious and oh so clever. Love Sawyer's take on liverwurst, cheese on cauliflowerand dressed up tuna. Sawyer deserves the ice cream treat. Loved this one! Made me laugh. Happy Friday. Sue

This is a wonderful poem. It reminds me of some of the great dishes my departed mother cooked and a few of the less flavorful ones. This poem brings back memories of my childhood with my great mother. Well done, Brooke.

YUMMMMMY!!!! I would like an ice cream sandwich myself. I doubt very seriously Sawyer is a picky eater. My boys would eat almost anything I put in front of them. I enjoyed reading your fun poem.

Barbara, thank you :-) I just heard from Giddy, who is Australian, who has never heard of them. I'm starting to feel sorry for Aussies. LOL :-) Sawyer is the pickiest eater on Planet Earth. His list of likes is, I bet, the shortest list you've ever seen, though it gets longer if you make each manifestation of chocolate and ice cream as a separate item. LOL :-) Brooke

I'm shocked!!! Really, boys are usually not fussy. Mine would eat almost anything I put in front of them and plenty of it. They had to acquire a taste for tomatoes and mushrooms but as they got older they ate both.

My son remains a super fussy eater. Must be something in the genes. Both my son and Sawyer were fussy eaters from the time they were very very young, too young to be influenced by friends or TV ads or anything like that. Miranda even took Sawyer to the health plan nutritionist for pointers, and so far nothing has worked, but he's healthy and growing by leaps and bounds, so nobody is panicking.
