LOL! Liverwurst, yuk. Cauliflower cheese, yummy. I laughed at the tuna fish comment. And I'm totally in agreement with the ice cream sandwich stanza.

Ice cream is one of my (many) weaknesses. :)

Adorable pic, and a sweet poem.

This is another little gem (or pearl, I suppose in your case). It's funny how one's attitude changes over the years. I used to insist that my children eat their vegetables. Now, with my grandchildren, my only worry is that they not go hungry. I guess all the starch has gone out of me by now.

Gerald, thanks so much :-) Yep, as a grandparent we worry so much less over those things. It is definitely a more carefree relationship than we had with our kids :-) Brooke

Mothers get on a health kick and it's time to leave home. This is very well written with an interesting flow of words, making for a good read.

I love this! After teaching 3-5 year-old kids the last 3 years, I know how hard it is to get them to eat food. At least this guy tasted it, more than many of my kids would do.

Very well written! And ice cream is my favorite even still, ha! Blessings, LaVonne

Excellent ballad form, rhythm and rhyme. Good language, and use of enjambment. Oh, the hardships of childhood, and the things we were forced to endure. Kenny

This is just too cute.........my kids always got one dish they could refuse, had to be only one, but whenever it was served they could decline. My son still doesn't eat corn! He did not phrase it as delightful as Sawyer did!

Corn? I thought that was the one veggie every fussy kid liked. LOL Thanks so very much, Bina. I would have used that tradition to rule out peas :-) Brooke

This a fun little poem. Yes, all the nasty , healthy food is forgiven when candy or ice cream his those young taste buds. Great job and the green letters, add to the sense of healthy food.

Lol, and I think Sawyer better sit down with mom and have a one on one talk about what he likes to eat that's good for him. I do believe that she'll understand, as long as gets the point across nicely. Maybe the two could go to the grocery store together, lol. I'm so pleased to see though, that he finally got his ice cream sandwich! What a fun read, Brooke. . .Sharon

Sharon, thank you so much - he is already her constant shopping companion. LOL And it's really easy to memorize his list of likes because it's so damned short :-) Brooke

Lol, I remember my son at this age. If I served anything 'green', it had to be covered up with lots of cheese! My daughter though would eat anything, even fried okra that my mom gave me the southern recipe for. Even with her twins, Skylar will eat anything, but Anthony is like Sawyer with his little list, lolol!

and I know it's not a societal thing, like peer influence or commercials or whatever because my son was a super picky eater when he was far too young to be influenced by anyone and now his nephew Sawyer is following in his footsteps

You're right, it's just a finicky, stupid thing in their brain!!!

This is a fun poem about kids and what they have to endure. My dad loved pickled herring, sauerkraut, and souse. He always thought I did too. I'm pretty sure it was just him.

Bill, thank you so very much :-) pickled herring, not that I've ever actually tried it, but it sounds really gross. LOL I so appreciate your generous sixth star. Brooke

AAGGHH! YOu made me have a flashback to being forced to eat Liver as a child. I can remember gagging and sweating over the horrible dinner. Then to make things worse, I found out she didn't even eat it herself. Great rhyme and flow to this. Nicely done. Gretchen

Thanks so much, Gretchen - my oldest sister actually likes liver and has voluntarily ordered it in restaurants in my flabbergasted presence. LOL Brooke :-)
