Hi. Ah, the wee fluff of the summer dreams. It was fun to count down and then to go 'poof' and know more will pop up...
I like how you nake the flowers alive, for that is where children's poetry is full of magic. padumachitta

Your poem has so many lovely things in those limited lines. There is elementary arithmatic(counting numbers from 10 to 1) for children. There is a little botany too in the last lines telling how the flower-seed-plant-flower cycle is working wonderfully in the plant world. For others, there is philosophy hidden in how the seed finally blossoms to delight the world. Enjoyed reading your poem thoroughly.

Your poem has so many lovely things in those limited lines. There is elementary arithmatic(counting numbers from 10 to 1) for children. There is a little botany too in the last lines telling how the flower-seed-plant-flower cycle is working wonderfully in the plant world. For others, there is philosophy hidden in how the seed finally blossoms to delight the world. Enjoyed reading your poem thoroughly.

This clever poem has a great moral in the renewal of life after it seems to have scattered to the four winds. It's a bit like the scientific idea that nothing disappears, but reappears in another form of energy (I'm sure there's a proper name for that. Your imagination never seems to run dry with these children's poems. Each number produces and original and beautifully tailored narrative for the disappearance of a dandelion. My favourite:Four dandelions circled
an old, enchanted oak,
till one was used to flavor wine
imbibed by fairy folk.

Hi Brooke, this is a lovely counting poem for the children. The story is soft and flowing. All the dandelions got up to some kind of trick and only one was left to reproduce. Such wayward flowers. lol. Luv jada

Off with the dandelions again! lol Your poems bring me back to my childhood and the many pleasurable moments of dandelions since. They never fail to just pop up and make one smile. how come nobody ever thought to count them down before/ (well not that I've read). A delightful poem for the littlies to learn to count by, fun for adults. "Fairy folk, princess, cute bunnies combined with a visual of the life path of ten dandelions. A counting lesson, a fantasy to enjoy AND a nature lesson ... all in one. Love this. Hugs Lovi xooxo

Nice repeating nature.. kind of reminds me of Sherry Lewis' "This is the song that never ends". We see this in nature all the time, until we as human beings decide to stop that cycle for one reason or another.

The seeds were widely scattered and planted in the ground
till dandelions sprouted with blossoms that abound.
