A happy ending, reflecting the circle of life. The dandelions died, but new ones were born to take their place. Your poem was a delight to read, creating such beautiful poetry out of something so simple, truly takes talent.

I remember reading a counting poem from you before, though I don't remember what was counted down back then :)
this one was very cute. I love dandelions, so had to read it :) sawyer is a lucky boy to have his own poems :) wonderful flow and cure images in the stanzas.

Thanks so much, Tina :-) Most recently I counted back hippos, though in the past I've also counted a few other things. Brooke

An inventive set of conditions for reducing the dandelion population - I favour the dandelion wine option, having made gallons of it years ago! You are right though - it only takes one puff of wind and there's a new crop for the coming year! Rhythm and rhyme as usual perfect.

Absolutely beautiful! Loved everything about it from the educational aspect to the myriad of emotions displayed. Told a wonderful story. Favorite stanza:
"One dandelion remaining
then turned to silken seeds,
and gentle breezes blowing
are all one flower needs."

I loved the ending, and isn't that what one can say about life? Many losses, many gains.
The poem flowed very nicely, like gentle waves on the ocean.

A pleasant read, but the reason for the demise of a few of the little yellow suckers is a bit stretched. I would try to manufacture a few, but am about to welcome dinner guests so must flee.

I love it. I love that you have personified the dandelions, and I adore how you counted down until only one remained. The circumstances of each dandelion's disappearance are just wonderful.
And then, following the circle of life, one survives to spread her seeds.
Magical stuff, Brooke! Thanks for making me smile.

This is such a cute poem and it is also very educational, as you pointed out, for it's a counting poem.
I like the uncommon variety of things that happened to the dandelions, not the usual run of the mill occurrences.
"Seven dandelions
stayed gladly on display,
until one served as breakfast
to one voracious jay.
Loved it.
