This was really well written and a very good read. I have to admit l read it several times as l really wanted to learn more about Lord Krishna. I have visited India and seen some amazing places and shrines but l have to admit l knew very little about Lord Krishna. Very informative as well as being a beautiful poem to read. Loved the story. I was pleasantly surprised to find your poem in the form of a story on Lord Krishna as an entry for the contest. Coming just a few days ahead of Krishna's birthday, the poem is surely going to usher in the celebratory mood among his devotees. Volumes have been written throughout ages about Krishna; His preachings full of morals and wisdom are read and heard by millions everyday. You have done a wonderful job in venturing to give a glimpse of them in your poem. Best of luck!

I have read the Bhagavad Ghita and it is a truly beautiful, spiritual book. I am not to familiar with the story of Krishna and you have told it well in verse. Just one question- is Kans a variation of Khans?

    Hello Ravenblack,
In spite of being quite unfamiliar with the theme/Krishna's story, you have taken so much interest in reading and reviewing it. I thank you very much for its appreciation and Excellent Rating.
Dear Friend, 'Kans' is the name of Lord Krishna's maternal uncle who was very cruel king of then Mathura kingdom.
Khans/Islam or Muslim religion didn't exist at all at that time.

Very well written and contains so much historically interesting information about Krishna. The notes add a lot to the understanding of it for me since I'm not at all familiar with the subject. Excellent rhyming and flows well from start to finish. Good luck in the contest!

I really love being taught history in verse. I love the way the poem starts out clear as day, vibrant and fun to read. It stays that way except for me, I find it hard to follow in the second half of the poem. Some of it fits beautiful in verse but because I do not know the story, I am left disappointed that it is not spelled out as clearly as the first half. You might say look it up, and I'm sure I should. Still a great poem.

I spent two years working on a research ship out of Bombay (note Mira mar). I really appreciated the diversity of cultures and their mythologies/religions characterized by their temples and written culture -a lot of what was appreciated at the time including the dualities of the principle characters some of which have past on from my memories unfortunately. The same diversity of culture was noted in on a side trip to Nepal. I passed though the ceremony of colored water with only a masking of face or was it fate.

I had never heard of Krishna before. Your poem was not only beautiful and well crafted, by it gave a great history lesson as well. This is a fine entry for the contest.
