How true my friend. We can't wait to be 21
but then we are willing to wait to be 40!
Another big step, at least it was for me.
I love your poem, in those three lines you
said a lot.

Have a nice week dear Willow

'Ah! To Be Twenty-One Again' is an exceptionally well-written and truthful piece. Tragically time flies like a
rocket in cyberspace! It was a pleasure to both read and review this talented poet's work.

Hi MoonWillow,

Your words ring so true, and the last line was so telling. I love the image you chose - it is so dreamlike and compliments your poem nicely.

Hugs,
Lou

Hi MoonWillow,
You're not just whistlin' Dixie with this one. When we were young, we couldn't wait to reach that mystical age of adulthood, only to find as we reached that age, it also came with a lot of responsibility. Responsibility in turn, eats time for breakfast. It's as if we clicked our heals clapped our hands and presto... her we are! It all happened much too quickly.
I appreciated this insightful thought and the excellent accompanying picture... fantastic!
All my best, Bill

How true, how true! The structure of your work nicely imitates your thought. The first part slowly takes up most of two lines while the second is just one word over a line. The words "drag" and "flies" further emphasize that contrast. Lots going on here in a very small poem. Nicely done.

This is just a deep fact of live. Before twenty-one, most of us never got to realize the enormity of life tasks ahead, but from that age, the facts start to unfolding at greater pace. Nicely thought out

So very true! Time flies more quickly with each passing year. In my 20s, however, it still seemed to move more slowly. Now -- much later -- it's screaming by!

I very much like the accompany artwork. It fits well. Thanks for sharing, MoonWillow. Alana

You have expertly captured a broad concept in a few words. Well done. Your poem reminds me of the song sung by Frank Sinatra that says, "When I was seventeen it was a very good year." It is a tear jerker of a song about the progression of life. Time flies when your having fun then it is done. I love your artwork.

I heard it said that twenty-one is the launching point into adulthood. Here, many are starting their career, the speed has to be upped and momentum incremented. It is at this time that one enters the rat race, keeps up with the Joneses and always looking for trendy things.

The body's mechanisms seem all primed, and the coundown has begun.

I see "proverbial bat" with a double meaning. One is, when you are at the "bat," get ready at the next moment to run.

With your statement. I thought I never would get to be sixteen and then 21. At some point we learn to take them as they come and make the best of them.

Well done, Buck
