This is a great poetical snippet moonwillow, and so so true, my own life seems to be whooshing past since I hit 21, the age I got married as well, love this!

Five stars due to full agreement with your statement. We didn't care about growing old at 21, cause we were 21!!! Old age seemed so far away. Wish the years would slow down. It's amazing.

Hi Moonwillow - I have to give you a five star rating if for no other reason than I completely agree with the sentiment. I would love to be 21 again. Not that I would change anything - just like that bit more time on this blessed earth. Kind regards Dorothy

I enjoyed reading your poem. Great haiku. Great use of imagery in your poem. I like the flow of it. Great picture choice.

Flies like the proverbial bat is a fitting last line and reflective of real life. Your words flow smoothly and all of us can relate to the quick passing of time. Excellent 5-7-5 form.

Whack! a shot in the forehead with a wooden board always gets your attention, so does your 21st birthday! Nice turning line. Great job!

lol. It was very funny. I liked the "proverbial bat". Twenty-one is a beautiful time in one's life, isn't it?
I called my whole crown of sonnets "When I was twenty-one".

I love the picture to along with your words, with all those beautiful watches.

A delightful offering, love, Y.

Time seems to drag
until we hit twenty-one... then
flies like the proverbial bat

So, so true time waits for nobody, but what can we do, only live in the moment.

Well done
Mary

You are not kidding. Where does the time go, My oldest daughter just celebrated her seventeenth birthday. How and where did those years go. My time with her here at home is running out. I already miss her, even though she still has two years left of high school, I'm in panic mode, lol.

Your descriptive and well structured poem, tells it like it is. I like to think that if you are satisfied with what you've done with your life, it's easier to deal with getting older. Either way, "time flies". Hope the trip is good for you. Best wishes.
