Time is that cruel master that teases us when we are young by creeping by so slowly then picks up speed just a we want to slow down and smell the roses...I guess we need to appreciate every minute we have before it passes us by. Great work with this one. I just love avmurray's illustration, just perfect for this one.

How truthful! Nice work. When I was younger I always looked forward to turning eighteen or twenty-one. Now that the times of both have relatively recently come and gone, I dread the inevitable aging that seems to come too much at a quickened pace.

Time seems to drag
until we hit twenty-one... then
flies like the proverbial bat

Excellent poetic snippet and oh so true. Great artwork and presentation to this fun poem.

Well done
Janet :)

Your short form poem, along with a fine illustration that evokes memories of Dali, presents readers with this undeniable truism. Time, in adulthood, flies - or flees. Too soon it is all gone. Good work.

Well stated, so true;
A well-crafted poem on the cruel behavior of time;
When we're young we wish to be older--when we're older we yearn for younger days--I guess we're just never satisfied;
"flies like the proverbial bat"--nice simile to complete your thoughts of ticking moments.

"Ah, To Be Twenty-One Again!" I wish. I wish. I wish. Time does indeed fly after twenty one. It flies like the proverbial bat. Good poem you have crafted here. Well done.

Nicely composed, MoonWillow, and well stated.

Funny thing, time... Most of us long for more time when ours comes to an end. We can save time, watch time fly, use our time wisely, and live on borrowed time. We can waste our time, be on time, and even share our time with others. But one thing we can't do with time is bank it, or save it up for use at a later time. That's why it's always best to enjoy our time while we've still got some to enjoy.

Great write!

You are so right - when I was young time went so slow. Now it does fly so quickly. Here it the end of July and it just started a few days ago;)

I know that is right, poet. When you get into your seventies it flies faster than a jet. Well done. Like the photo too. Blessings

Ah, how true it is. Your little "snippet" contains so few words, and yet is a universal truth that we all experience and accept with some degree of puzzlement.
