The juxta-position of desirable and not-so-desirable is an appealing approach to delivering your message. I, however relate two the second sentiment in each couplet, so must enjoy the first by observation, not experience. Observing is also uplifting.

That story made this grandma teary eyed to. That is not at all good. Well maybe it is. It makes me miss my grandchildren. Thank you for sharing this poem. Love is meant to be shared.

Barbara, thank you so much. They are so easy to miss, so hard to kiss goodbye. I long for the olden days when everyone stayed in the old hometown and the kids and grandkids came over for dinner every Sunday :-) Brooke

Dear Brooke - loved the poem, and its wonderful wisdom too. Your author notes got me too. Yikes. I truly believe children are so very wise and listening to them intently can change our outlook in that moment. Lovely expressive writing from you and Cutie Pie.
Thanks for sharing and for the smiles that cheered my day.

Thanks so much, Maureen. I just got off the phone with Miranda. I just love all her Sawyer stories, and I get more of them on Mondays since I don't talk with her over the weekend :-) Brooke

Out of the mouths of babes flow the sweetest things. Thanks for sharing your author notes! Nice ABCB rhyme scheme and the similes provide excellent imagery to contrast the differences between solitude and love. 8-)

Precious Child!- Precious verse- I so identify with one- solitude and being blue- somehow you made it all so poetic! Maybe I should look at it with a different perspective? Write on Brooke -Di

This is a lovely little poem, and I enjoyed reading the author's notes.
I particularly liked this truth:
Solitude is what remains,
when love is left behind.

Very nice.
I never know what to write.
You don't need any help,
and who am I to give it anyway?

Thanks for reviewing my latest.
I liked that one.

How are you coming with
the body reconstruction?

Ha ha. I hope well.

Best wishes,

Doug

Brooke,
LOL I totally get it. My daughter still wants to snuggle even though she's almost bigger than me but getting her to say something positive ... forget about it. Made me tear up too.
Love,
barbara

Thanks so much for your generosity, Barbara :-) It's a lot harder to get them to say nice things once they're past ten. LOL Brooke :-)

Accurate dissertation on the properties of the isolation of solitude. It also carries the notion of confinement (as well as a host of other emotions and feelings) Yet, the author has surely conveyed its essence in this fine piece. Well done.

Till the last amen
