I'm always so happy to see darling Sawyer adorning your work. I find your poem so interesting, people have a
different feeling about solitude, sometimes I find it a friend, others an unwanted "companion" and I want it to leave.
Your poem is absolutely wonderful, it certainly made me think and I agree, solitude is all that.
Have a wonderful week.

Thanks so much, Bryana. For one who lives alone, far from my children, solitude is not my friend :-) Brooke

I know what you mean dear Brooke, my husband passed away and I have lived alone for the last 17 years. If I get sad in my solitude would be bad so I adopted solitude as my friend.

Hello there~!
First, the picture is so cute!
Next, I love the poem. It's as if you're giving a whole lot of reasons to stay away from solitude.
Great Job~

What a cute ball - who couldn't love him. I really enjoyed your poem and I like that movie Despicable Me. What a blessing to hear those words from a little boy - when he's good, he's very, very good. When he's despicable he's...not?

Kay, thank you so very much, my generous friend :-) Oh, when he's despicable he drives his mommy crazy. LOL The child definitely has his exasperating side, but the wonderful moments always outnumber and outweigh the little tyrant moments :-) Brooke

I really enjoyed your creation comparing solitude and love. As always, the rhythm and rhyme was perfect. I particularly enjoyed the note about the adorable photo of Sawyer and Miranda. I had to share it with my wife. Thanks from both of us!

He's got your readers teary too. He's so sweet, I almost want to buy him a birthday present for being here/. Of course without grandma's words I wouldn't have grown with fondness for him.
Yes solitude has that way of leaning towards an empty spot for love. Alone's sister.
great rhymes

Lulube, thank you so much :-) The child is already drowning in toys, so really, it's the thought that counts :-) Brooke

No doubt,Sawyer probably has everything a little boy could possibly know about having and utilizes them all. lol

I don't even buy him "things" - I make him books of my poetry and have passed down some of my childhood possessions as heirlooms, but I've never gone to a store to buy him "stuff."
There is no point to adding to the pile. LOL
In addition to having a shopaholic mother and a whole slew of other relatives, he receives all of Nora's very nice hand-me-downs, and believe me, that little girl has only the best. :-)

He'll really appreciate those poetry books later in life, Brooke. He can read the poems to his children, wow, look how far ahead a person can visualize.
No wonder his personality is so vibrant.

on a different note, you remember Indie? did she have her baby? I don't want to email her and ask her in case something went wrong. Just wondering about her lately.

Despicable Me parts 1 and 2 are two of my all time favorite movies. If I had the power I would have create a minion army. As much as I enjoy all the characters I feel that without the minions, there is no movie. I just absolutely love those little guys to pieces. I also love this poem, it is sensitive and very pleasing to read.

Your poem is as sweet as the story that inspired it, Brooke. I like the flow of
7-5-7-5 and the last line 6. Your alliteration and enjambment are always great.
Smiles,

Brooke, this reaches out over the miles and touches this grandmother's heart, too. A couple of truly profound lines: "Solitude can meditate-- / love surpasses mind."
(I would love to see a picture of you snuggling with Sawyer like this, next time you have that sweet opportunity.) Love, Jeanie

This is a beautiful poem that the author has created with this piece of writing. The notes brought a tear to my eye as well. This is tugging on my heartstrings. Well done.
