"Makes you ODORIFOUS." Did you mean ODORIFEROUS? or ODIFEROUS?

Stein would drive me mad. I can't stand anyone who plays with people like a cat plays with a mouse. I find it exhausting. Sometimes, I feel that's what you do with your stories. It's 'follow me if you can. Get all the allusions if you're smart enough. Otherwise, stand, stand, get out of my sight. I guess I don't like being tested with every post. Nevertheless, well written, Lee. Peace, brother.

Thank you for your comments, Adri7enne. But I you think you give me either too much credit, or too much blame. I don't mean to test you or anyone else. It is not my intention to be exhausting.

Stein meant odorifous. Characters frequently misspeak.

    Thank you again.

    Peace, Lee

Stein is a somewhat smart man who has heard every hustle in the world, but isn't it funny how those who have heard it all, seen it all, and should never fall for anything just can't help but hang onto a sliver of hope for the big score, and keep listening. Dilby or Dildobrain has just enough brazing to pull it off. Thanks for another GREAT and entertaining chapter. :-)

Thank you, Ric. Stein himself says (or is soon to say), "Every man is a conman conning himself." I'm delighted you enjoyed. Part 2 later today. Peace, Lee

Not only do you have intriguing tales, but you make me laugh every time I read your work!

Lines like these are why I'll read anything you write: "nibbling the edges of a pastrami sandwich as if it was an ear of corn"; "Margaret Thatcher's horse" - a pure gem!
And I'm still laughing over this one: "excessive breeding among cousins must be hard on the sinuses--genetically speaking."

You're awesome and fully deserve my final six for the week.

Lee

Do you use some sort of creative shrooms when you write?

Your imagery is excellent, as well as the speech and inner dialogue.

I kept seeing Sydney Greenstreet as Stein, Peter Lorre as Dilby and Bill Murray as either: Chino, (the lackey through whom Dilby...) or is it Chico (appeared and tugged on Dilby's...)?

Or was it the shrooms I had?

Thank you, G. If I knew where to get some creative shrooms ...
    Thanks for the Chino/Chico pick-up.
I like your casting choices. I was going for a little more 'physical' comedy as I wrote. I a toned-down Mel Brooks as Stein, Cary Grant as Dilby, and Cheech Marin as Chino/Chico.
It always helps when you can cast trumping death.

    shrooms would be good.

    Thanks again, G.

Okay, you've got me hooked. I do hope I don't have to wait long for part 2. Great dialogue and fun banter. I really got a kick out of this one. I am anxiously looking forward to the next installment.

Looks like an uneasy and dangerous partnership is about to be formed. Maybe Dilby should choose another course, but then crooks aren't noted for their smarts, but often for their greed.
Interesting characters with an intriguing premise.

Thank you, w.j. debi. Yes I often write about crooks, just because they're dumb and fun. Glad you enjoyed. Peace, Lee

Lee - when I got to the end, I was glad to see that there will be more to follow. Two great characters already. Not sure I can count Moe. Your narrative is wonderful and the salty dialog a perfect fit. A good read. Bill

Thanks so much, Bill. Moe is going to be hard to cast, I'll tell you that much--especially with Claude Raines being gone. I really appreciate the galaxy, my friend. Peace, Lee

And a perfectly delightful elider he is, from his nickname right down to his night-crawler lips and his contemptuous dismissal of 'stupid'.

I am a little curious why a con man (talented or not we haven't really worked out) would approach a money-lender rather than a more suckerish kind of a sucker, but I shall wait to be entertained by the next eoisode....

It's like the original Geronimo bow. I've seen five of them. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a good read.
