Dear Rod,
An appropriate moniker for a fisherman. At least the angler hopes that a rainbow awaits his fly. (LOL) We just got back from the BWCAW where we fished for smallmouth. We camped on East Pike Lake which is loaded with them. I caught one over twenty inches on a black matuka. Talk about a strong fish that really fights, the smallie is the one. Good illustration to highlight your poem.
Warm regards,
Winslow

What a beautiful image you present here in so very few words. My husband enjoys fly fishing so I must show this to him. My best to you in the contest--wonderful picture you chose to accompany this.

A really good entry in this 5-7-5 haiku in this contest! I like the fact that you connect beautifully the narrative beautifully with the artwork, and the clever underlying theme is great also! Blessings, Roy, good luck!

Wow! What a beautiful descriptive haiku. There truly is that moment when time seems to stop when casting a fly. Beautiful art work accompaniment.

line loops out and hangs
one slow breath above the stream
rainbow trout awaits
That magical moment when the line arcs and the hope is still alive.
Excellent.

Ah, fly fishing for trout, there's nothing quite like it. Actually, fly fishing for any type of fish is challenging and lots of fun, trout or otherwise.
Well done, and best of luck to you in the contest!

And oh the anticipation of pulling the catch in. While the rainbow trout eagerly awaits the last supper. Great picture to compliment the words. Best wishes with the entry and the catch.

Yes, a poetic appreciation of that magic moment when everything goes perfectly - you can almost feel the fish about to strike.
Good haiku form - should do well.
Good luck.
