Great picture and great rhyming quatrains Brooke. Loved the abcb rhyme. I especially liked eateries and maitre d's. Good use of alliteration throughout this clever and creative poem.

Janet :)

I was wondering the size of the food line and the amount it would take to make things happen. Morning to you Sawyer. Yep, she did it again. Blessings Brooke

Yes, they are dangerous like any other wild animal. I am certain they would eat all your dinner. LOL
The rhythm works nicely Brooke. And some of your rhyme schemes are wonderful.
eateries -- Maitre'D's Awesome! All the others are nice as well.

Sadly dear Brooke, you would find yourself in the minority. Because the majority fear them and this is the fuel which feeds most biases. Lovely poem, however I don't know if I would be so welcoming with sharing my space in the city with a herd of hippos. LOL.

Good light-hearted write. While it would be interesting to se a hippo in the city, I'm not to sure I'd want to share my table or booth with one, there might not be any room left for me. Ha Ha.

Hi Brooke - Great poem - but I think you're telling a fib. You would not want to share a table in any eatery with a hippo LOL. Like your reference to the mud baths and facials - just what hippos would love. Seriously, this is a good poem in good abcb rhyme. Yet one more of your good amusing poems. Regards Dorothy x

Thanks so much, Dorothy - I like Disney-type hippos, the ones who would make good dinner companions. LOL :-) Brooke

Yes, Brooke, I think you need to post a bold warning above your poem lest the Phds around here go picnicing along the Zambezi.

A delightful poem that will charm kids and adults equally.
You're very creative in picking out the problems that might stymie urban hippos. Even I have trouble with booths--but that's only because I'll tall. And I love the snooty spa.

Good stuff, Brooke.

Peace, Lee

Thanks so much, Lee :-) I have written about my friends the hippos in the past and some reviewers never miss the chance to share their knowledge of the viciousness of the hippo with me :-) Brooke

Good poem with a good theme. This little story of fantasy, where hippos live right beside man. Think it would be more than the world could handle, or want to handle.

Oh, come on, Brooke. We all know that the kind of Hippos that eat at fine dining establishments aren't the kind to cause danger. LOL. Great rhyme that was a lot of fun to read. I once did a poem called, 'If my dog went to school." I actually had people telling me it was too unrealistic. Really? Glad you still had fun with this. Still waiting for that book of poetry.

Gretchen, thanks for the laugh and the review. Some people have no sense of humor or appreciation for fantasy. I wrote a poem about a ladybug and butterfly who make friends while sitting on the same plant, and I had a nice lady explain to me that those creatures can't really talk and don't strike up friendships. LOL :-) Brooke
