I love the poem. The last of a great creature has lost his ate. He will follow. All that will be left is the empty nest. Those he leaves behind will stare at the empty nest and this about his great creature. Great work.

I had never heard of this bird, so I googled it and the BBC wildlife programmes said there have been no sightings in the wild since 2000. I think I now understand your message, I am glad I looked it up. Significant message and well chosen words to convey your thoughts. Good luck in the contest. Faye

I don't get the POV of two different people thing, so no comment on that
good consonance in macaw/memories/empty/dream
and good alliterative grouping in fulfilled/flow/follow

Mikey, I take it the spix macaw is extinct. I applaud this entry for managing to follow the ridiculous instructions. I wouldn't be surprised if half the entries are disqualified for missing some mindless detail. Sheesh!

I like the sense of this tanka. I take from it that this macaw is rare and mates for life. The makeup of your tanka doesn't seem to exactly comply with the anal requirements of the prompt. Happy days.

It is so sad that so many species became extinct due to man. I know the Spix is still bred in captivity, but its not the same as seeing one in the wild. This is well written. Good luck.
