Now, that's poetry! This is so filled with great imagery coupled with longing, sentiment and hope. Caroline, you have successfully and artfully melded summer and self in this piece. This definitely reflects a profound appreciation.
Great job, well worth six stars. Craig.

Now this is truly summer worship. You describe such a beautiful world, filled with flowers and scents and the air full of assorted bees, butterflies and birds. It sounds like paradise. No wonder you want to be a convert forever.

A wonderful ode to summer's glories.

Love it.

I do think that we do live in the garden of Eden ... All we have to do is open our eyes to this truth. And, you have done that beautifully here.

Hugs,d

Sorry I missed this when it paid. I love the images. Sometimes a health scare makes us more aware of what we would miss in this life. Glad the crises is over. If one has to die, this woodland would be the best place to be.

Outstanding imagery combined with an unfolding of honest sentiment. Awesome alliteration throughout. Favorite lines:

Let me stand sentinel with Russian Sage
losing myself in soil
our mingling roots a sacrament for
hosting bees and butterflies

Very creative.

Well Caroline, I think the raw emotion that you must have experienced during that uncomfortable season must have been not what you would enjoy, being under exreme duress! You have communicated and captured the emotion emphatically in your poem, and projected it extremely well! Articulately written in descriptively expressive language, well done,

There is nothing like a serious health scare to get us thinking about our lives and what the loss of it might mean. I never gave much thought to my health as I have been blessed for many years with pretty much perfect health and then suddenly I am middle aged, obese with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, congestive heart ailments and a host of other frightening conditions. Okay God I hear you I will start taking better care of myself immediately. LOL.

Simply sublime! The pictures you draw with your words certainly convey the grandeur of the summer. I do love that word "summered". That noun works beautifully as an adjective here. Such happiness and joy are evident here. Thanks!

Very beautiful, and a lovely prayer to summer. Your descriptions of the beautiful things in the woodland garden provide a colorful picture. All the sights and sensory images are delightful--the finches, the sunflowers, Russian sage, etc. The narrator is a worshiper before this shrine of summer, hoping to see yet another glorious season. Last couplet sums it up exactly: "Let me be born again to each summer sky, continuous convert to her mysteries." judi
