I don't know why we all can't just get along and if for whatever reason you don't like the person you can just leave them alone. Why do we have to harm or kill people because the do or believe something we don't. It's ridiculous.

Guess fear, tribalism, control , revenge, are some of the reasons since humanity exist that caused constant wars... I believe most people want peace, only take a few... Thank you for a great comment. Pili

This is a thoughtfully worded free verse poem, Pili. This type of slaughter is taking place all over the world now, leaving children orphaned and alone. So very sad.
I like the movement of your verses with a nice use of enjambment.

There is no reason - not any that is good enough - that allows for the slaughter of these innocents. Even if they physically survive, the mental toll and aftermath will haunt them for a lifetime.

Talking about what we see on the news these days, it makes me think of poor innocent children as you have written about here. Battles and warfare killing innocent people and often times leaving children left to die or to be haunted by memories of the horrors. Good poetry my friend.

My dear friend, I wonder about the same thing. These poor children didn't ask to be born and yet they are so mistreated and so many of them have died. It brings tear to my eyes when I think about it.
