I love the story. Jen was trying to protect Billy-Joe from class bigotry. She found out even the poorer class has bigotry. But Billy-Joe offered her a job. Maybe he saw it as a chance to prove he was right. Great work. Good luck in the contest.

I enjoyed the relationship between Billy-Joe and Gerald. Gerald is presented as someone who is wide-eyed and ready to learn all there is about American ,but still keeping true to his English roots.
Billy-Joe appears impressed by Gerald, not because he's from England, but because he does not treat him like trailer trash.
The tone of the story is humorous and makes for fine reading.

this is very well written, mystery writer, I enjoyed reading this version of the story and look forward to reading the others in this contest. I loved visiting Atlanta as a child, going to Six Flags every year with my family or the church. good luck in the contest.

The humor of Brits talking to Americans and vice versa is a great mine to dig for gems. Knock up indeed.
chilling and ice cubes ... the same goes for me with white wine and single malt as well.
ink/times/shi flavor ... well done you.
malt vinegar ... YUK

But Glenlivet goes down smoothly if one has a cultured palette, Thanks.

So does Glengeneric. I am a Scotsman at heart though probably only 1/64 Scott DNA by now but I still carry the name Fraser: forbears landed in Nova Scotia 1773) and have toured the best of the distilleries.

Interesting entry. I liked the play between English and American expressions. Actually, I would have liked to have seen more of that in the piece. This is a well-written narrative. Good luck in the voting! Looks like you have a 50/50 chance of winning, but unfortunately the prize is small.
