Excellent writing, to me it seemed to read like a story, and I find myself wanting more! Some really great suspense going there.. kept me on the edge of my seat! Nice art selection as well, I can see why you were inspired by it.

Best lines 'Jaws clamped tightly but the man was keeping his finger on the trigger - firing too.' Great spooky poem that sent shivers down my spine. You really have turned the corner with your writing!

LOL, Kay, I am getting a few comments about the change of genre I have been writing lately. I'm so pleased you liked this one. Thanks a million for the 6 stars, my friend. I have been doing some research on the pearly button kings and queens. It all started with a lad from an orphanage over a hundred years ago. Its quite interesting. I am working on that one now. Thanks for the suggestion. :) Have a lovely day!! Sandra xsx

The last Pearlies died some time back I think - at least they would have been accepted at the Pearly Gates! LOL :-) Lots of gypsies in UK (get photos from Bing, they are good and free.)

A very imaginative poem flowing very well and easy to read. Using the art work of the wolf for inspiration, also a very good way to go. I think man has forgotten that he is a part of the 'food chain'. This is a good piece to remind him. Best wishes.

Thank you, Victor. I never thought of it that way, we, being a part of the food chain, but you are so right. I'm glad you liked it. :) Sandra

I have nothing against wolves either, Sandra.

Well rhymed. Well thought out and shared with us readers. You were able to give it the chilling, eerie feel it needed to set the stage for the reader.

Nicely done. John

Thank you so much, John. You reviewed a poem I wrote a while ago, simply called 'The Wolf' that one was a nice smiley one. I couldn't turn this illustration into a nice one. LOL. I am pleased you enjoyed it. :) xsx Sandra

Wow! What a well written presentation you've given us, Sandra. I've never heard of a 'dead man's croon.' Great imagery. Your rhyming is very well done, and your poem moves with a great rhythm.

Thank you for sharing! I loved it. Alana

That is quite a picture. You did a good job of continuing the eerie mood those eyes convey. The poem flows smoothly and is an interesting account of a wolf hunt. --Elaine

An amazing picture and I can see why you were so inspired with it. Very well written and a strong story being told here. I love wolves and have seen so many films on them. One in particular always stands out in my mind. Dances with wolves I think it is called. An amazing film. It really upset me when the wolf died. The last verse really hooked me and I could see the wolf ready to go again with his new pack. Very good and full of imagery. Genya

Sandra, I love this story about the wolf calling his pack to come for the hunt and the kill. He remains strong in the face of adversity of seeing death created by man. He calls for a second pack to create an attack upon these men. The leader may be the devil but the power of these men will not succumb to these wolves.

Very eerie and a very good read as your rhyme scheme flows so well.

Very well done my friend. Love you lots Sandra,,,,,,,Jim xxx
