Like the clever way you used the word: 'arms' has a double meaning. Also, you've found a rhyme which I overlooked because I got so into the message. Superb! Les

Ah look at the Cute Little One with his stuffed puppy. That is adorable. Does he have a real puppy? This poem is very well written. You're right, there should be more hugging in the world.

Oh Brooke, you always have a good message to most all of your great poetry! I love that Sawyer looks so pensive, and he's using his arms to love, which is what all of us should be doing much more of! That, and helping as many as we can, with our arms while they're still fairly strong. I always enjoy reading, and know where to find you when I return! . . .Sharon

Lovely words, lovely sentiment. If only the world was so simple, but alas it is not. Sawyer looks cute in this picture, and it is refreshing to see such innocence.

He who hugs is not inclined
to arm himself for war.
Instinct ought to have more say
in what our arms are for.
If all children were taught to hug, felt loved and accepted, then maybe the world would know peace.
Beautiful message.

I like your short epigram and its message too. It is hard to be mad at someone who gives you a hug. Nice play on the word arms. Alliteration of h's. 8-)

Good use of the of the abcb rhyme scheme. Good end rhyming with war/for. Good alliteration with he/hugs...arms/are. I see nothing that I would add, change or take out of this piece. Good work.

Your epigram is the true essence of its definition - revealing, clever and succinct.
I love the message that is conveyed; hug more, fight less.
You couldn't have picked a better photo to represent this :)

that is a good picture, brooke, and now I know what an epigram is. thank you for explaining it. I would rather hug a bear than eat my bananas too, lol. I enjoyed reading it

Brooke, if only more people used their arms for
hugging instead of picking up weapons to use
against others. Love the picture of Sawyer. Children
can teach us many lessons.
