What a wonderful photo to go along with your poem! I always enjoy what you write. It's short sweet and carries a world of meaning.

A good one, if only it were true. 7/6/7/6 mixed rhythm, alternate line rhyme, easy to read, wit, and observation well expressed. Great accompaniment in the photo. Kenny

The right to bear arms...for hugging...just got a shot of adrenaline!

No wonder you're number one in the craft of poetry. You make it look so easy and tremendously significant every time!

Terrific stuff!

This is a very apt and fitting poem that the author has created with this piece of writing. We need to show more compassion and stop all wars. There is no point to this fighting and killing.

In 5,000 years of history, we seem to have little about the futility of war. Your epigram should be in every school, church and public forum. I particularly liked your wordplay with "hugs/arms". Here's to a peaceful new week with many hugs- Joan

If we could hug everyone we wanted to hurt I think there would be less deaths in the world but more broken ribs. LOL. This is super cute.

Brilliantly said Brooke! The true embodiment of an epigram. . .you read and nod your head in agreement. . .then realize how deeply you are thinking about it. Physical or metaphorical, a "hug mentality" ought to have more sway - inclusion not imposition would build a better world.

Excellent!

LOL. . .sorry about the epitaph (I corrected it to epigram). . .I guess I was still thinking about the "epitaph for a poet" prompt)! But I figure you knew what I meant :-)

I agree arms are made for hugging and not for using weapons of war.
Good use of abcb rhymes
Nice alliteration --he who hugs
Love the message. lots of boys enlist in the army for the benefits and when their country engages in war they become caught up in it

Even the very young can have difficult moments, as well-penned in a short form of great observation;
Arms created for love, not war, as hands were made for expressing peace; not bringing about unnecessary conflict.
We need to utilize our hands wisely, pondering actions carefully first.

Such an emotional poem in just a few words, Brooke. I wish the image of young boys and girls hugging their stuffed animals or parents would keep them home from fighting wars, and I wish it would stop them from killing others in their homes and on the streets. A moving epigram.
Smiles,
Karyn : )
