Boy, Brooke, thinking of children being just a few years away from an age where they are eligible for war, frightens me to no end. During the Gulf War in the 90s, my son was in the Marines. I fell apart. After 22 months in Vietnam, thinking of my son in a similar situation was almost more than I could bear. Gratefully, he didn't have to to the Gulf during his time in service. The ones that do go, never come back the same. Your 'epigram' says more that a whole book. I wish you well.

Thank you so much, Victor. I would have fallen apart too. You are so right about how kids who are sent into those wars come back forever changed. Brooke

You are welcome, Brooke. However, a drill instructor in boot camp used to say,"Everybody gets a war". I hope that's not true.

I can see how you were inspired by his cute picture and we all wish that the world was not such an evil place, and that more people used their arms to embrace one another instead of killing each other. Well conceived rhyming and words to convey your thoughts. Most enjoyable. Faye

Precious. The photo will charm the reader if he or she have something to charm. Sawyer, Grandmother slipped another one in. Blessings Brooke. Eye doing much better. Looks like I have been in a fight and lost.

What a wonderful epigram. Never written one before but it does appear to be quite difficult. You blew it away with this post. Love the photo as well. Sometimes there is a Judas in the bunch however. This was so special, Brooke.

This poem gave me chills. I've been so troubled regarding the state of our world...nation... and those in leadership that push so hard for war...This is a beautiful message and so timely. Had to give it my six.

I don't think I have ever heard of an epigram so I'm glad you put it in your notes. Very cute - it does express a single thought or observation:) Fun Sawyer picture:)

Somebody called epigrams little short bugs with long stings in their tails. This is up to your usual, if short. Space filler: Ever read Twain's War Poem?
