Oh waters are so soothing and welcoming. I know, I take bubble baths often and for sure they make me refreshed and happy. Thank you for sharing this poem.

Hi Robin,

Interesting concept as I read your notes. Seems odd, some treatments that are used. Almost seems like cruel treatment.

This read makes one think. Well done.

Cheers & Blessings

This is a really well written poem making its point well.

So easy to just let life pass you by. Oh? You thought it was about the mentally ill? Well .. I guess you could look at it that way.

So anyway, what sort of fruit did he think he was? A prune right? Well you should tell people not to eat him or they might get diarrhoeia (god! I HATE that word!).

But, you might tell him that some womeen like prunes, especially around the time of their period, at which so I hear hear tell, they sometimes suffer from constipation.

How sad this is. I loved the description of the ordeal of getting into the bath. Great imagery throughout. Loved the last line. It made a pivotal point. Great job.

This is a heart wrenching poem. The mentally ill been tossed out into cruel world from hospitals. How they have been taken care of or "not taken care of" is horrendous. This Poem will bring more attention to our mentally ill. Reagan sent them out of the hospitals and into the streets or jails to wander aimlessly in the street of San Francisco , and other big cities.
This poem points out their loss of dignity. How can we go n never helping these people . A country that spend billions and billion to fight wars are not even our should be ashamed at How they treat the homeless and needy. It make me sick.
Your poem is well writtten and flows. It certainly keeps my attention.
Great job

I love the picture. I love the poem. It is a reminder of how we used to treat our mentally ill. It was horrid. I hate the word idiot. But we still use it today. We closed down mental hospitals. Now the mentally ill are being housed in jails and prisons. We have a long way to go. Great work.

Yeah, and they used to drill holes in a persons head so the devil could be released from their souls. The mentally ill are still treated wrong in many facilities. To this day I still hear reports of those facilities being called on the carpet for wrong doings to these poor souls. This was a well written poetic voice that I found to be well written and very informative... John

So sad this poem< Ine. To lose your dignity under these circumstances. But indeed water is healing and helps them to feel safe again, just as in mothers womb.
It's a kind of rebirth for them...for a while..
Wonderfully expressed and explained and expressed so well.
Thanks for sharing this uniquw poem. Fia

I've heard of this practice, Ine, and while I completely agree with the warm water therapy and its positive effects, I strongly disagree with the cold water one used for punishment. I feel that did far more harm than good.

Well done~

Over the centuries the mentally ill have been mistreated and abused. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for an interesting read.
