Brooke - whimsy is exactly what I need this afternoon and your sweet poem is filling the bill. I've never been to Encino, but after hearing about the odd tendencies of many of California's residents, I could envision a lost pet elephant.

Here in Virginia, we frequently find lost congressmen and senators roaming Rt.95 South looking for direction. Am not sure what sort of pet they might make - how much worse than an elephant?

Love the poem, Sawyer is going to be a handful as he gets older - you do know that, right?

Jean

Jean, thank you so much for that laugh and for the review :-) I've warned his mom that he is going to be a couple of handfuls. She had already figured that out. LOL :-) Brooke

Hi Brooke,

Indeed, you can always count on ants. Of course, if Sawyer could find an elephant in Encino, then he could have the elephant scrunch those little critters into oblivion! I say that with the utmost confidence since we just got rid of some ants that came through the electrical outlets. I could have used an elephant or two!

Cheers & Blessings

Thanks so much, Jax. Miranda has a bug guy who comes once a month and sprays all the bugs in her yard into oblivion before they have a chance to invite themselves inside. Don't tell Sawyer that! LOL :-) Brooke

I fear dear Brooke, that the excellence of your writing has raised the bar very high for every other writer's work that I read and review. You have especially raised the bar for my own writing and really that is a good thing I think. So thank you for that.

Ha ha, yeah, well, you're far more likely to find ants in Encino before you find even a single elephant. However, if you really want to see an elephant that badly, you can hop in your car and take a rather tedious, traffic-congested, nineteen mile and fifty-one minute jaunt to the Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Gardens. They have elephants there, LOL. And there are even a few banana trees, too!

So, don't fret, into you car, go get, and there you'll see 'em, I bet...

Thanks so much, Dean - Sawyer has been to the L.A. zoo several times as well as the San Diego Zoo - he loves the exotic animals, but also loves his neighborhood bugs :-) Brooke

Sure thing, Brooke. A budding entomologist, huh? He's a kid after my own heart, LOL.

Very nice flowing poem.
Children are amazing what makes them so fill with wonder and little things we sometimes take for granted when we age. With children they bring back so many memories that we put on our back shelves.
Great write Brooke, You grandson looking so intense over that ant.

Maybe the elephants don't live in Encino because they are afraid of ants. Could be? One never knows. LOL I enjoyed reading your poem. I smiled as I read.

Hi Brooke, I am laughing my head off. I always get a kick out of your use of animals in poetry. Looking for ants did it. Loved this poem. Nice picture to go with it, too. Miss Sally
