Good advice Sawyer. Ants are much more interesting. Besides they want step on you. Just the other way around. Well done Brooke. Made my day.

LOL. . .even in your whimsical, light-hearted moments
you manage to entertain me with your skip-and-hop
merrily down the street atmosphere :-)

Very fun (and silly) poem to read. It went very nicely with my
mid-day coffee cake and tea!

This is a very very humorous poem Brooke, I love the lovely way you have set it out, a poem that will appeal to all age groups, great rhyming and rhythm, and a lovely smooth flow.

Too cute! I love the 3rd stanza of looking straight into the elephant's knees. I also love how it ended off in the last stanza of looking for ants. A beautiful and embracing write Brooke!

This is a lot of fun, and it sounds like something a child would be thinking about--whether there are elephants living in the neighborhood. The observation that there aren't any bananas for it to eat is delightful. Looking at an elephant's knees is a wonderful observation, because that's what a child would be thinking. Great lead-up to the conclusion about looking for ants. Wonderful rhyme in this. judi

This is a cute easily rhymed poem that tells of a child's view of the world. It shows how easily they learn not to look for things that can't possibly happen unlike some adults. It also shows that taking time for the possible might make your world happier.

Sawyer seems to be looking with such scientisticly serious interest.

Keep writing

This is a cute picture of your curious grandson examining the wonders of nature. I like the idea of elephant in the poem. Its very novel. Enjoyed reading the poem.

No elephants live in Encino --
there isn't the slightest chance --
so next time my mom takes me walking,
I guess I'll be looking for ants. --Loved this whimsical ending verse.i am sure this will be a good poem in a children's book

Ah, this is such a cute poem. If you really want to see elephants walking in the streets, then the town you need to visit is called 'Phalaborwa', South Africa.
