I recall the Twilight series very well
I recall putting our children to bed (not to put fright into their minds)

Your alien from the planet Kanamits yes, put very disturbing thought in my head.
and your poem added to it.
Especially this part-

Like turkeys, now we're rounded up

and made to watch these Pilgrims sup

a horrid Pilgrim day in May

when we're the special of the day.

    Thanks so much, Gert, for this wonderful rating and review! I've really missed you around here lately, and I hope things are going much better for you and hubby now.

    I was really lucky because my mom worked nights when we were young (I was about nine or ten), and dad would be so tired from work he usually fell asleep while watching TV around 8 PM or thereabouts. So, as a consequence, I took advantage of that and got my brothers out of bed, (who were supposed to be in bed by eight o'clock for school. Yes, I said eight!, LOL) to sneak up and watch the Twilight Zone reruns with me that always came on around nine. Well, you don't think I'd watch them all by myself, do ya?

    The night I saw the episode that inspired this poem, I remember wishing I had kept my butt in bed. It was called, "To Serve Man", and it scared the holy heck out of me!

    Looks like I did the right move. (kids in bed)
    I was alone while Stan was going to college at night
    (yes I also was wondering why I was viewing such eerie and bizarre imagination.

Sterling's story came from a short story that appeared in Analog science fiction. The aliens looked like pigs and were revered until a copy of their book was found that illustrated 101 ways to serve man. Good work and it is a story that needs to be retold.

I used to watch "The T-Zone" with a pillow at the ready to hide behind. This is a wonderful re-write. Great imagination, as usual, and very entertaining presentation.

Hi, Dean. Not surprised at the great response to this -- yes it is -- creepy poem. I actually do think the greys are quite capable of walking through walls. But they've learned that stealth works much better. I like the rhyming of this poem and the underlying message. Great job! :) Bev

    Ha ha, thank you so much, Bev, and I'm really glad you got a kick out of this crazy thing. Sometimes I don't know where the inspiration comes from, but I did on this one.

    I appreciate the review, very much! :}

    Hah, thanks a bunch, padu. You can still watch those old Twilight Zone episodes on YouTube, free, and without commercials. Just type in To Serve Man: Twilight Zone, and you can see what I'm talking about. Best thing is, it doesn't cost you a dime! How's that for entertainment?

I loved it, bud. I really enjoyed the line where the prez chokes on both of his balls lol, that one made me chuckle. I thought the idea of the piece was fantastic, turning the scope around like that on us lol. Really great work on this comic horror poem, thanks for sharing.

You always find the most amazing artwork to go with your gory stories. Don't know the TV series, but enjoyed this little delve into the alien invasion. Great cookbook to finish off with.

    Thank you, Pearl, I really appreciate the review and kind comments, my friend. Look the series up on YouTube sometime. It's not that scary by today's standards, but they are still fun to watch.

    Thanks again! :}

Well, possibly, too, out of the old Mad magazine?...This was the thinking, back in the late 40's, 1950's & 60's & even in the Bible, etc...,...Twilight Zone, & Alfred Hitchcock TV episodes were my parent's favorite TV programs, so was schooled a lot about strange occurrence's at an early age.

There just has to be life on other planets..If though, they are anything like your poem's creatures...Hope they just stay home...Life, here, right now is scary enough..Without these type of dudes showing up on the White House lawn....Very creative, Dean, & Thanks for sharing your ideas with us.

    Ha ha, yeah, you're right about that, Caressa. Although, given mankind's penchant for violence, I think the aliens would be far more terrified of us than we are of them, LOL.

    Thanks again for the great review! :}

I missed being the first reviewer again... But, I'm glad I was not late.

I never forget that series, although I vaguely remember an episode, unlike Alfred Hitchcock and Tales from the Dark Side. When I was in my grade school, my classmate brought a special book of Reader's Digest about ESP and Alien Encounter and I believed the sightings. I still believe they really exist. I also believe the Albert Einstein-Alien issue that his intelligence came from aliens. etc.

I just hope, if I'll have any encounter with them, it's more like an encounter Species. Hehe...

It's morning here and I'm aware it's already 10 in the evening there, so have a restful sleep! Sweet dreams!
